Type Soul Guide (2026)

I put together this Type Soul guide after 200+ hours of grinding through every race, testing Shikai abilities, and making every mistake possible so you don’t have to. This is the Bleach game I always wanted on Roblox.

Type Soul nails the anime feel. The combat system, the progression from nobody to Bankai user, the faction wars. It’s brutal, grindy, and incredibly satisfying when things click. I’ve played most anime games on Roblox and this one has the deepest combat by far.

Here’s the thing about this Type Soul guide. Most guides just tell you what to do. I’m going to explain why, because understanding the systems makes you better than just following a checklist.

Choosing Your Race

This is the biggest decision you’ll make. Each race plays completely differently.

Soul Reaper (Shinigami)

Best for beginners. The progression path is straightforward and most community resources focus on this race.

You start as a Lost Soul in Karakura Town. Die to a Hollow (or find the Kisuke NPC), and you’ll become a Soul Reaper. From there it’s:

  1. Lost Soul → Soul Reaper
  2. Unlock Shikai (Grade 2)
  3. Unlock Bankai (Semi Grade 1)
  4. Optional: Become a Vizard (hybrid with Hollow powers)

The Vizard path is risky. You need to beat your inner Hollow in a timed fight. Fail and you lose progress. I failed twice before getting it. Worth it though, the mask abilities are strong.

Hollow

For aggressive players who want raw power. The transformation chain feels amazing.

Progression goes:

  1. Fishbone (starting form)
  2. Menos Grande (big slow form)
  3. Adjuchas (faster, stronger)
  4. Vasto Lorde (peak Hollow)
  5. Arrancar (humanoid form with Resurrection)

The Menos stage is rough. You’re huge, slow, and an easy target. Push through it. Vasto Lorde and Arrancar forms are worth the grind.

Arrancar Resurrection is basically the Hollow version of Bankai. Some of the strongest abilities in the game come from this path.

Quincy

The ranged specialist. Hardest race to master but incredibly strong at high levels.

You need to find the Quincy trainer in Wandenreich. The location isn’t marked, took me 30 minutes of wandering to find it my first time. Look for the snowy area.

Quincy progression:

  1. Base Quincy
  2. Unlock Schrift (your special ability)
  3. Vollstandig (ultimate form)

Schrift abilities are unique to Quincy. The Almighty is broken if you roll it. Lets you see and change the future in combat. Most Schrifts are solid though.

Fullbringer

The newest race. Uses items imbued with souls for combat.

Honestly, I haven’t played this one as much. The community consensus is it’s viable but has a higher skill floor than Soul Reaper. If you want something different, try it. Otherwise stick with the main three.

Grade System Explained

Your Grade determines what content you can access. This confused me for weeks.

GradeWhat Unlocks
Grade 5Starting rank
Grade 4Basic missions
Grade 3Harder missions, some areas
Grade 2Shikai unlock
Semi Grade 1Bankai unlock
Grade 1Endgame content
Elite GradeFlex status

Grinding grades is simple but slow. Kill NPCs, complete missions, participate in raids. The jump from Grade 2 to Semi Grade 1 takes the longest. I spent probably 40 hours there.

Unlocking Shikai

This is where Type Soul gets good. Shikai is your Zanpakuto’s released form with unique abilities.

Requirements:

  • Grade 2 or higher
  • Meditation (sit in a quiet area and wait)
  • Beat your inner spirit in combat

The meditation part is RNG. Sometimes it triggers in 5 minutes, sometimes 30. Find a spot away from other players and NPCs. I use the rooftops in Karakura.

When you enter your inner world, you fight your Zanpakuto spirit. The difficulty scales with your stats. If you’re struggling, grind more before attempting.

After winning, you get a random Shikai. Some are meta, some are mid. That’s where Type Soul codes come in clutch. Shikai rerolls let you try again without repeating the whole process.

Top Shikai Abilities

I’ll cover this more in my Type Soul Shikai tier list, but quick rundown:

S Tier:

  • Warden (insane utility)
  • Berserk (raw damage)
  • Lightning (stun combos)

A Tier:

  • Fire (DoT pressure)
  • Ice (crowd control)
  • Shadow (mobility)

Avoid:

  • Water (underwhelming)
  • Wind (needs buffs)

Unlocking Bankai

The endgame goal for Soul Reapers. Bankai is your Shikai’s final form.

Requirements:

  • Semi Grade 1
  • Mastered Shikai (use it a lot)
  • Beat the Bankai trial

The trial is harder than Shikai. Your Zanpakuto spirit fights at full power. I recommend being at least 80% through Semi Grade 1 before attempting.

Bankai abilities are enhanced versions of your Shikai. Some transformations are dramatic. Berserk Bankai turns you into a damage monster.

Combat Tips

Type Soul combat is deep. Here’s what took me too long to learn.

M1 Combos: Your basic attacks chain together. Learn the timing. Mashing doesn’t work.

Block Breaking: Heavy attacks break blocks. Don’t just spam light attacks into a blocking opponent.

Dodge Timing: I-frames exist but they’re tight. Practice in low stakes fights before PvP.

Ability Canceling: Some abilities can be canceled into others. This is advanced tech but worth learning.

Positioning: High ground matters. Ranged abilities have travel time. Use terrain.

Reroll Strategy

Don’t waste rerolls randomly. I burned through 100+ before researching what I actually wanted.

Elements: Lightning and Fire are meta. Lightning has stun potential for combos. Fire has insane damage over time.

Clans: Yamamoto and Zaraki are S tier for Soul Reapers. Yhwach for Quincy. Clan bonuses are significant.

Locked Rerolls: These let you keep your current ability if the new roll is worse. Save them for important stuff.

Grab all the free rerolls from Type Soul codes before you start rolling. The compensation codes alone give you 100+ rerolls.

Common Mistakes

Things I wish I knew starting out:

  1. Skipping Grade grinding - You need the stats. Rushing to Shikai with low stats means you’ll lose the trial.

  2. Rerolling without research - Know what you want before spending rerolls.

  3. Ignoring Clan bonuses - Clans give passive buffs. Some are way better than others.

  4. Fighting above your grade - Grade 1 players will destroy you. Stick to your level until you’re ready.

  5. Not using codes - Free rerolls and elixirs. No reason to skip them.

Faction Wars

Type Soul has ongoing faction conflicts. Soul Society vs Hueco Mundo vs Wandenreich.

Participating in faction content gives bonus rewards and is honestly the most fun part of endgame. Coordinated raids with your faction feel epic.

Join your faction’s Discord. Callouts and coordination make a huge difference.
