The Forge Beginner Guide (2026)

I put together this The Forge beginner guide after 100+ hours of grinding. The game hit #1 on Roblox with 600K+ concurrent players and I’ve been hooked since day one. Looks simple on the surface but there’s way more depth than I expected.

This covers everything I wish someone told me when I started. Would’ve saved me probably 20 hours of wasted effort.

Your First 30 Minutes

When you spawn in Starter Village, here’s exactly what to do:

Talk to Sensei Moro first. He’s right in front of spawn. Complete his tutorial and you get a free Stone Pickaxe plus a basic weapon. Skip this and you’re mining with your fists like I did for 10 embarrassing minutes.

Spam Q constantly. Dash has almost no cooldown. I didn’t realize this for like 3 hours and was walking everywhere like a fool. Q is your best friend in this game.

Enter the Starter Cave. Glowing entrance near Sensei Moro. This is home for your first few hours. Mine everything you see.

Visit the Forge after collecting 10+ ores. The Forge building is where you craft weapons and armor. Don’t wait too long to check it out.

Mining Basics

Mining is the core loop. You swing, you collect, you get stronger. But there’s nuance here.

Mining Power determines which ores you can break. Higher tier ores need better pickaxes. I spent 30 minutes whacking a Mythril node with my Iron Pickaxe before realizing I literally couldn’t break it. Check your stats.

Mining Speed affects how fast you break nodes. Races like Goblin get speed bonuses here. More on that later.

Luck increases rare ore drops. This stat is lowkey the most important one late game. Stack it whenever possible.

Deeper caves = better ores. But also tougher enemies. Don’t rush it. I died probably 15 times trying to speedrun to the bottom before I was ready.

Forging System

The Forge turns ores into gear. Here’s how it actually works:

  1. Select 1-3 ores to combine
  2. Ore combination determines base stats
  3. Random traits get added
  4. Higher rarity ores = better base stats

Pro tip: Don’t waste forges on common ores. I burned through like 50 forge attempts making garbage weapons before I learned this. Save your attempts for Rare+ ores. Common ore weapons are barely better than starter gear.

The trait system is RNG but some combinations seem to roll better traits. The Discord has spreadsheets on this if you want to min-max.

Combat

Combat is simple but you need it for progression. Enemies drop materials for upgrades.

Light attacks are fast, low damage. Good for chip damage.

Heavy attacks are slow but break enemy guard. Use these when they’re blocking.

Dash (Q) dodges attacks and repositions. Spam it. Seriously.

Block reduces incoming damage. Better than nothing but dodging is usually smarter.

I ignored combat for my first 20 hours and just ran from everything. Works okay early but you’ll hit a wall eventually.

Race Selection

Your race determines stat bonuses. You can reroll using The Forge codes or in-game currency.

Best Starter Races

Goblin (S-Tier for Mining)

  • +15% mining speed
  • +10% rare ore find rate
  • -10% combat damage

This is what I run. The mining speed bonus is noticeable immediately. Combat penalty hurts but you’re mining 90% of the time anyway.

Dwarf (A-Tier Balanced)

  • +10% mining power
  • +5% defense
  • Slightly slower movement

Great all-rounder. No major weaknesses. If you can’t decide, Dwarf is safe.

Human (B-Tier Safe)

  • No bonuses or penalties
  • Good for learning mechanics

Reroll once you understand the game. Human is training wheels.

Rare Races (0.5% Drop Rate)

Angel (S-Tier Late Game)

  • +20% luck
  • Flight ability

Best endgame race for farming. That luck bonus is insane. I’ve been trying to roll this for 3 days. Still Human. Pain.

Demon (S-Tier Combat)

  • +25% combat damage
  • Fire resistance

Best for boss fights. If you roll this early, you’re set for combat forever.

Pickaxe Progression

Your pickaxe matters more than anything else. Here’s the upgrade path I recommend:

Early Game (Starter Village)

  1. Stone Pickaxe (Free) - Tutorial reward. Replace ASAP.
  2. Iron Pickaxe (500 coins) - First real upgrade. Buy immediately.
  3. Gold Pickaxe (8,000 coins) - Skip Bronze, save for this. Unlocks gem deposits.

Mid Game (Forgotten Kingdom)

  1. Stonewake’s Pickaxe (25,000 coins) - First rune slot. Worth it.
  2. Mythril Pickaxe (75,000 coins) - Major power spike. Two rune slots.

Late Game (Frostspire Expanse)

  1. Demonic Pickaxe (500,000 coins) - Three rune slots. Skip Magma if you can.
  2. Arcane Pickaxe (750,000 coins) - Best overall. +50% luck bonus is broken.

I made the mistake of buying every pickaxe in order. Don’t do that. Skip Bronze, skip Magma if possible. The jumps between tiers matter more than incremental upgrades.

Island Progression

The game has three islands that unlock as you level:

Island 1: Starter Village

  • Beginner ores: Stone, Copper, Iron
  • Easy enemies
  • Learn mechanics here

Island 2: Forgotten Kingdom (Mining Level 15)

  • Mid-tier ores: Gold, Mythril, Gems
  • Tougher enemies, better rewards
  • This is where the game opens up

Island 3: Frostspire Expanse (Mining Level 40)

  • End-game ores: Lightite, Frostcore
  • Challenging enemies
  • Best pickaxes available here

I rushed to Island 2 at level 15 and got destroyed. Stayed in Starter Village until level 20 on my second character. Much smoother.

Money Making

Coins are everything. Here’s how to farm them:

Sell excess ores. Don’t hoard common ores. I had 500 Stone sitting in my inventory doing nothing. Sell that stuff.

Complete quests. NPCs give quests with coin rewards. Always have active quests running.

Farm gem deposits. Gems sell for high prices. Prioritize them once you have Gold Pickaxe.

Stack luck bonuses. Pop Luck Totems (from codes) + race bonuses together for farming sessions. The rare ore drops add up fast.

Deep mining runs. Deeper caves have more valuable ores. Risk = reward.

Rune System

Runes add bonuses to your pickaxe. You need pickaxes with rune slots (Stonewake’s and above).

Best Runes:

  • Luck Rune - More rare ore drops. Priority #1.
  • Speed Rune - Faster mining. Priority #2.
  • Fortune Rune - More coins from selling.
  • Power Rune - Break tougher ores.

I ran Power Rune for way too long before switching to Luck. Don’t make my mistake. Luck is king.

Common Mistakes

Things I did wrong so you don’t have to:

  1. Forging with common ores. Waste of attempts. Wait for Rare+.
  2. Ignoring race rerolls. Use code rerolls to get Goblin or Dwarf early.
  3. Buying every pickaxe. Skip Bronze and Magma. Save coins for the big jumps.
  4. Mining in shallow areas. Go deeper once you can handle enemies.
  5. Not using dash. Q has almost no cooldown. Use it constantly.
  6. Hoarding ores. Sell common/uncommon. You’ll find more.
  7. Running Power Rune. Luck Rune is better 90% of the time.

Quick Tips

  • Press Q constantly. Dash is free movement speed.
  • Stack luck for farming sessions. Pop everything at once.
  • Check the Forge daily. Sometimes special recipes appear.
  • Join the Discord. Codes drop there first.
  • Save rerolls for Angel/Demon. Those 0.5% races are worth grinding for.
