Hypershot Abilities Tier List (2026)

Best Hypershot abilities: Auto Reload (mandatory), Regen Splash (free sustain + speed), Tailwind (repositioning), Transcend (clutch escapes), and Photon Shield (reload protection). Run Auto Reload + Regen Splash in every loadout.

After 200+ hours, I've tested every ability combination. Some are broken. Some are useless. Most players run the same 3-4 abilities because they're objectively better. This tier list explains why.

Quick Tier List

Tier Abilities
S Auto Reload, Regen Splash, Tailwind, Transcend
A Photon Shield, Updraft, Infinity Edge
B Rewind, Inferno Tornado, Volt Orb
C Glider, Exploding Peels, Throwing Kunai
D Situational picks, gimmicks

S-Tier Abilities

Auto Reload

Type: Utility Cost: Free

The single best ability in the game. Instant magazine refresh without the reload animation. This changes everything.

Without Auto Reload, you're vulnerable during reloads. With it, you maintain constant pressure. The Vectorstrike goes from "deadly but needs reloads" to "endless death machine."

Why it's S-tier:

  • Removes the biggest weakness of high-DPS weapons
  • Works with every weapon in the game
  • Free to use
  • No cooldown issues

Run this in every loadout. I'm not exaggerating. The DPS increase from eliminating reload downtime is massive.

Regen Splash

Type: Utility/Healing Cost: Free

Heals nearby players and gives a speed boost. The healing is solid, but the speed boost is the real value.

Faster movement means:

  • Better strafing in gunfights
  • Quicker rotations between objectives
  • Easier escapes when low

Why it's S-tier:

  • Free sustain between fights
  • Speed boost is always useful
  • Helps teammates in team modes
  • No real downside

Pair with: Auto Reload (always), any primary weapon

Tailwind

Type: Movement Cost: Free

Quick horizontal dash for repositioning. The bread-and-butter movement ability.

Use it to:

  • Close distance with SMGs/shotguns
  • Escape after a pick
  • Dodge sniper shots
  • Reposition during reloads

Why it's S-tier:

  • Instant repositioning
  • Low cooldown
  • Works offensively and defensively
  • Free

Pair with: Aggressive weapons (Vectorstrike, AA-12)

Transcend

Type: Defensive Cost: Premium

Brief invulnerability. You can't take damage during the effect. Clutch for escapes and mid-fight reloads.

The timing window is tight. Use it when:

  • You're caught reloading
  • Multiple enemies are focusing you
  • You need to escape a bad position
  • Trading damage would kill you

Why it's S-tier:

  • Literally can't die during activation
  • Saves you from certain death
  • Mind games potential (bait shots)
  • Works in any situation

Pair with: Snipers (escape after shots), aggressive loadouts

A-Tier Abilities

Photon Shield

Type: Defensive Cost: Mid-tier

Deployable energy shield that blocks incoming fire. Protects you during reloads or when holding angles.

Best uses:

  • Reload protection in open areas
  • Holding objectives in CTF
  • Blocking sniper sightlines
  • Team support in TDM

Why it's A-tier:

  • Solid defensive option
  • Creates cover where none exists
  • Good for objective modes
  • Slightly outclassed by Transcend for pure survival

Pair with: LMGs, objective-focused loadouts

Updraft

Type: Movement Cost: Free

Vertical boost that launches you upward. Reach high ground, escape ground-level fights, or get unexpected angles.

Best uses:

  • Reaching elevated positions
  • Escaping melee range
  • Surprising enemies from above
  • Map shortcuts

Why it's A-tier:

  • Free vertical mobility
  • Good on maps with verticality
  • Less useful on flat maps
  • Tailwind is more versatile overall

Pair with: Snipers (high ground advantage), ARs

Infinity Edge

Type: Offensive Cost: Premium

Powerful melee dash that deals high damage. One-shot potential at close range.

Best uses:

  • Finishing low-health enemies
  • Surprise attacks around corners
  • When your primary runs dry
  • Style points

Why it's A-tier:

  • High burst damage
  • Movement + damage combo
  • Satisfying to land
  • Risky if you miss

Pair with: SMGs, aggressive playstyles

B-Tier Abilities

Rewind

Type: Defensive Cost: Mid-tier

Returns you to your position from a few seconds ago. Second chance ability.

Good for escaping bad pushes, but the delay before activation can get you killed. Transcend is more reliable for survival.

Pair with: Aggressive loadouts that overextend

Inferno Tornado

Type: Offensive Cost: Mid-tier

Area damage tornado. Good for objectives and grouped enemies.

Damage is decent but enemies can walk out of it. Better in team modes where chaos helps.

Pair with: Objective modes, team play

Volt Orb

Type: Offensive Cost: Mid-tier

Electric projectile for zoning. Slows enemies and deals damage over time.

Useful for area denial but doesn't kill fast enough to compete with just shooting people.

Pair with: Defensive playstyles, holding positions

C-Tier Abilities

Glider

Type: Movement Cost: Low

Slow fall ability. Useful on specific maps with verticality, useless everywhere else.

If you're falling, you're probably already dead. Updraft is better for vertical play.

Exploding Peels

Type: Offensive Cost: Low

Throwable explosives. Burst damage but inconsistent. Hard to land, and guns kill faster.

Fun for memes. Not competitive.

Throwing Kunai

Type: Offensive Cost: Free

Ranged damage option. Low damage, slow travel time. Your guns are better.

Only use if you literally have nothing else equipped.

D-Tier Abilities

Gimmick abilities that don't compete with the options above. If you're running these, you're handicapping yourself.

Ability Combinations

The Meta Setup (Free)

  • Auto Reload
  • Regen Splash
  • Tailwind

This costs nothing and competes with premium setups. Run this until you unlock better options.

Aggressive SMG Build

  • Auto Reload
  • Tailwind
  • Transcend

Maximum aggression. Push in, melt enemies, Transcend out if things go wrong.

Sniper Support Build

  • Auto Reload
  • Updraft
  • Transcend

High ground advantage, escape options, no reload vulnerability.

Objective Tank Build

  • Auto Reload
  • Regen Splash
  • Photon Shield

Sustain and protection for holding flags or points.

Passives vs Abilities

Passives are permanent buffs. Abilities are active skills. You want both.

Best passives to pair with abilities:

  • Explosive Bullets + Auto Reload = Constant explosive damage
  • Movement Speed + Tailwind = Maximum mobility
  • Health Regen + Regen Splash = Never die to chip damage

Common Mistakes

Not Running Auto Reload

I see players skip this constantly. They're wrong. The DPS increase from eliminating reloads is too significant to ignore.

Using Offensive Abilities Over Defensive

Infinity Edge is cool. Transcend saves your life. Survival beats style.

Forgetting to Use Abilities

Abilities have cooldowns, not limited uses. Use them constantly. Holding abilities for "the right moment" means you're not getting value.

Wrong Abilities for the Mode

Glider in a flat TDM map? Wasted slot. Match your abilities to the mode and map.

When to Upgrade Abilities

Priority order for spending coins:

  1. Weapons first (AK → Vectorstrike/AA-12)
  2. Auto Reload (if not already free)
  3. Transcend
  4. Photon Shield

Don't buy C or D tier abilities. Save for the good stuff.

Auto Reload is mandatory. Regen Splash is free value. Tailwind for mobility. Transcend for survival. That's the formula.
