Weapons define your playstyle in Hunty Zombie. Some shred through raids, others struggle on wave 30. After 200+ hours and testing every weapon in the game, here’s the definitive Hunty Zombie weapons tier list for the Christmas Sword update.
Quick Tier List
| Tier | Weapons |
|---|---|
| S | Katana, Scythe, Dagger, Shoes, Christmas Sword |
| A | Greatsword, Anchor, Dual Guns, Chainsaw, Halloween Sword |
| B | Scissors, Zombie Claws, Pure Hand, Bow |
| C | Hammer, Basic Sword, Spear |
S-tier weapons clear raids solo. C-tier weapons make you work twice as hard for half the results.
S-Tier Weapons
These are the best weapons in Hunty Zombie. If you roll any of these at Mythic or Divine rarity, stop spinning and start building around it.
Katana
The most balanced S-tier weapon. Fast attacks, good mobility, solid damage on all abilities.
Why it’s S-tier:
- Z ability has dash built in (extra iframes)
- X ability hits in a wide arc for wave clear
- C ability is a strong single-target nuke
- Works in every game mode
I mained Katana from level 30 to 100. It carried me through my first Joker solo. The mobility alone makes it top tier.
Scythe
The wave clear king. If you’re farming Campaign or Payload, Scythe is unmatched.
Why it’s S-tier:
- Massive AOE on all abilities
- Z ability pulls enemies together
- Awakening hits everything on screen
- Best weapon for endless mode
Scythe falls off slightly in raids where single-target matters more. But for 90% of content, it’s busted.
Dagger
High skill ceiling weapon. In the right hands, Dagger outdamages everything.
Why it’s S-tier:
- Fastest attack speed in the game
- Multiple dash abilities (constant iframes)
- Insane DPS with attack speed builds
- Best raid weapon for experienced players
Dagger punishes mistakes though. Miss your abilities and you’re stuck in animations. I died a lot learning this weapon.
Shoes
Yeah, Shoes. The meme weapon is actually S-tier.
Why it’s S-tier:
- Ridiculous mobility
- Kick abilities have huge knockback
- Pairs perfectly with Dagger as secondary
- Makes Payload trivial
Shoes + Dagger is the meta speedrun combo. You’re constantly moving, constantly dealing damage, constantly invincible.
Christmas Sword (Limited)
The new Christmas event weapon. Currently overtuned.
Why it’s S-tier:
- High base damage
- Frost effects slow enemies
- Strong AOE on abilities
- Limited time, flex value
Get this while the event is active. It might get nerfed in Operation Health update.
A-Tier Weapons
Strong weapons that work in all content but lack the edge of S-tier.
Greatsword
The beginner-friendly powerhouse. Slow but hits like a truck.
Why it’s A-tier:
- Highest damage per hit
- Simple combo patterns
- Good for learning the game
- Falls off in speed-focused content
I recommend Greatsword for new players. You learn positioning because you can’t spam dash like Dagger users.
Anchor
Unique weapon with crowd control focus.
Why it’s A-tier:
- Pulls enemies together
- Good synergy with AOE traits
- Strong in Payload mode
- Slower than meta weapons
Anchor + Scythe secondary is a solid combo. Pull enemies, swap, AOE them down.
Dual Guns
Ranged option for players who hate melee.
Why it’s A-tier:
- Safe damage from distance
- Good for learning raid patterns
- Pairs well with melee secondary
- Lower DPS ceiling than melee
Dual Guns got buffed recently. Viable now, but still not meta.
Chainsaw
Sustained damage monster.
Why it’s A-tier:
- Hold attack for continuous damage
- Good against bosses with long vulnerability windows
- Satisfying to use
- Lacks mobility
Chainsaw is fun but you’re a sitting duck while attacking. Needs Vampire perk to survive.
Halloween Sword (Limited)
Last event’s weapon. Still strong.
Why it’s A-tier:
- Lifesteal built into abilities
- Good sustain without Vampire perk
- Frees up perk slot for damage options
- Slightly lower damage than S-tier
If you have Halloween Sword, you can run Critical perk instead of Vampire. Interesting build option.
B-Tier Weapons
Usable but outclassed. Fine for casual play, struggle in endgame.
Scissors
Unique dual-wield weapon.
Why it’s B-tier:
- Interesting moveset
- Decent speed
- Lower damage than similar weapons
- Awkward ability timing
Scissors look cool but Dagger does everything better.
Zombie Claws
Melee weapon with bleed effects.
Why it’s B-tier:
- DOT damage adds up
- Fast attacks
- Low burst damage
- Bleed doesn’t work on some bosses
Zombie Claws are a trap. The bleed sounds good but bosses have phases where DOT is useless.
Pure Hand
Fist weapon for the unarmed enjoyers.
Why it’s B-tier:
- Fast combos
- Good mobility
- Low range
- Requires perfect positioning
Pure Hand is viable but you’re playing on hard mode. Why punch zombies when you have a Katana?
Bow
The other ranged option.
Why it’s B-tier:
- Charged shots hit hard
- Safe playstyle
- Slow fire rate
- Outclassed by Dual Guns
Bow was better before Dual Guns got buffed. Now it’s just worse.
C-Tier Weapons
Avoid these. They make the game harder than it needs to be.
Hammer
Slow, clunky, outdated.
Why it’s C-tier:
- Slowest weapon in the game
- Damage doesn’t justify the speed
- No mobility
- Gets you killed in raids
Hammer was okay at launch. Power creep killed it.
Basic Sword
The starter weapon. Replace it immediately.
Why it’s C-tier:
- Low damage
- Basic moveset
- No unique mechanics
- Literally any other weapon is better
You get Basic Sword for free. Use it until your first spin, then never again.
Spear
Range doesn’t save it.
Why it’s C-tier:
- Awkward hitboxes
- Low damage
- Slow for a “fast” weapon
- Just use Dual Guns for range
Spear needs a rework. The range advantage doesn’t matter when everything else is worse.
Weapon Rarity Matters
Same weapon at different rarities performs differently:
| Rarity | Damage Multiplier |
|---|---|
| Rare | 1x |
| Epic | 1.3x |
| Legendary | 1.6x |
| Mythic | 2x |
| Divine | 2.5x |
| Celestial | 3x |
A Divine Greatsword outdamages a Rare Katana. But a Mythic Katana beats a Divine Hammer.
Rule of thumb: S-tier at Legendary beats A-tier at Mythic. Weapon choice matters more than rarity until you’re min-maxing endgame.
Best Weapon Combos
You can equip two weapons and swap between them. Good combos:
Dagger + Shoes - Maximum mobility, speedrun meta Katana + Scythe - Balanced for all content Greatsword + Dual Guns - Safe damage, good for learning raids Scythe + Anchor - Pull and AOE combo
I run Katana + Scythe. Katana for bosses, Scythe for waves.
Traits Change Everything
A weapon’s tier can shift based on traits. Prodigy makes everything S-tier viable. Bad traits make S-tier weapons feel like B-tier.

What to Roll For
If you’re spending weapon spins:
- Any S-tier weapon at Legendary or higher
- A-tier weapon at Mythic or higher
- Stop rolling once you have a solid main weapon
- Save remaining spins for trait rerolls
Don’t chase Divine rarity. Mythic S-tier with Prodigy beats Divine C-tier every time.
