Hunty Zombie Guide (2026)

Hunty Zombie is the best zombie survival RPG on Roblox right now. 601 million visits, constant updates, and a build system deep enough to keep you grinding for months. I’ve put 200+ hours into this game, cleared every raid boss solo, and hit wave 100+ in endless mode.

This Hunty Zombie guide covers everything from your first weapon spin to soloing Krampus. If you’re new, start here. If you’re stuck on raids, skip to the endgame section.

What is Hunty Zombie?

You fight waves of zombies. Simple concept. But the depth comes from the build system.

Every run, you’re combining:

  • Weapons (your main damage source, each with unique abilities)
  • Traits (passive buffs tied to your weapon)
  • Perks (active abilities on cooldown)
  • Pets (passive stat boosts)
  • Passives (equippable stat modifiers)
  • Skill Tree (permanent stat upgrades)

Get the right combination and you’re one-shotting bosses. Get it wrong and you’re dying on wave 20.

Controls

Before anything else, learn these:

ActionPCController
Weapon Ability 1ZL2/LT
Weapon Ability 2XL1/LB
Weapon Ability 3CR1/RB
DashQB/Circle
Use PerkEY/Triangle
AwakeningGDPad Down
Switch Weapon LeftOneDPad Left
Switch Weapon RightTwoDPad Right
Basic AttackLMBX/Square

Dash has iframes. This is the most important thing in the game. Time your dashes to avoid damage. I died to the Joker raid 15 times before I learned to dash through his attacks instead of running away.

Early Game (Levels 1-20)

Your first few hours are about getting resources and learning mechanics.

Step 1: Redeem All Codes

Before you do anything else, grab the Hunty Zombie codes. There are 70+ active codes right now giving hundreds of free weapon spins, trait rerolls, and perk spins. This skips hours of grinding.

Step 2: Roll for a Decent Weapon

Use your weapon spins until you get at least an Epic or Legendary weapon. Don’t stress about getting the perfect weapon yet. Anything above Rare will carry you through early game.

Good starter weapons:

  • Katana (fast, good mobility)
  • Greatsword (slow but hits hard)
  • Dagger (speed demon, requires skill)

Step 3: Learn Campaign Mode

Campaign is the main game mode. You pick a map, fight waves of zombies, and try to survive as long as possible.

Start with the School map on Normal difficulty. It’s the easiest. Learn zombie patterns, practice dashing, figure out your weapon’s abilities.

Don’t push difficulty until you’re comfortable. I tried Nightmare too early and got one-shot by a basic zombie. Embarrassing.

Step 4: Roll for Traits

Once you have a weapon you like, start rolling traits. Traits are tied to weapons, so you’re rolling for your specific weapon’s trait.

Early game, any damage-boosting trait works. But save your rerolls for later when you’re hunting Prodigy.

Mid Game (Levels 20-50)

Now you’re building toward a real setup.

Prioritize Perks

Perks are active abilities you charge by killing zombies. Press E to activate.

Vampire is the meta perk. Lifesteal keeps you alive through anything. I ran Vampire from level 25 to level 100 and never switched.

If you can’t get Vampire, these work:

  • Critical (burst damage)
  • DoubleDmg (team damage boost)
  • Healer (sustain for teams)

Roll perk spins until you get Vampire. Trust me.

Understand the Trait System

Traits are passive buffs on your weapon. You roll for them using trait rerolls.

The trait tier list matters here. Check the Hunty Zombie traits tier list for full rankings, but the short version:

S-Tier: Prodigy (buffs everything), Beast (raw damage) A-Tier: Focus 3, Berserker, Lifesteal Avoid: Anything that only buffs one stat

Prodigy is rare. I burned 200 trait rerolls before getting it. But it’s worth the grind.

Get Your First Pet

Pets give passive stat boosts. You buy them with Pet Coins from codes and gameplay.

Early picks:

  • Dragon - Damage boost, good for everything
  • Raven - Drop rate boost, good for farming

Don’t overthink pets early. Any pet is better than no pet.

Push Campaign Difficulties

Once your build is decent, start pushing harder difficulties:

Normal → Hard → Nightmare → Hell

Each difficulty gives better rewards but zombies hit harder and have more HP. Hell difficulty zombies can one-shot you without proper defense.

I recommend staying on Nightmare until your skill tree is upgraded. Hell is endgame content.

Skill Tree

The skill tree is permanent stat upgrades. You unlock it after reaching a certain level and spend Skill Tree Tokens to upgrade.

How to Get Skill Tree Tokens

  • Payload mode (1-3 tokens per clear)
  • Codes (HZ code gives 50 tokens)
  • Daily rewards

Payload is the fastest method. A good run takes 5-10 minutes and gives consistent tokens.

Which Path to Choose?

There are three main paths:

Attack Path - More damage, less defense Crit Path - Crit chance and crit damage, less defense Speed Path - Attack speed and movement, less defense

Attack is best for most players. Consistent damage increase, works with every weapon.

Crit path is good if you have crit-focused traits and pets. Speed path is niche.

The defense reduction from these paths sounds scary, but you offset it with Vampire perk and good positioning. I run full Attack path and solo raids fine.

Passives

Passives are equippable stat modifiers. You can equip 2 at a time.

Best passives:

  • AP (Ability Power) - More skill damage
  • CDR (Cooldown Reduction) - Use abilities more often
  • AS (Attack Speed) - Faster attacks
  • ATK (Attack) - Raw damage boost
  • DR (Damage Reduction) - Survivability

For damage builds: AP + CDR or AP + ATK For survival: DR + ATK

Game Modes

Campaign

Wave-based survival on different maps. Your bread and butter for leveling and learning.

Maps ranked by difficulty:

  1. School (easiest)
  2. Sewer
  3. Island
  4. City
  5. Carnival (hardest base map)

Payload

Escort a bus through a city while zombies attack it. Defend the bus, reach the end, get rewards.

Payload is the best mode for:

  • Skill Tree Tokens
  • Payload Coins
  • Consistent rewards

I grind Payload daily. 10 runs takes about an hour and maxes my daily tokens.

Raids

Boss fights against powerful enemies. This is endgame content.

Current raid bosses:

  • Shogun - Easiest raid, good for learning
  • Reaper - Medium difficulty
  • Joker - Hard, requires good builds
  • Krampus - Christmas event boss, very hard

Raids drop tokens for exclusive weapons and cosmetics. You need a solid build before attempting them.

Endgame: Raids and Endless

Once your build is complete, you’re farming raids and pushing endless mode.

Raid Strategy

Every raid boss has patterns. Learn them.

General tips:

  • Dash through attacks, not away from them
  • Save your Awakening (G) for burst phases
  • Vampire perk is mandatory for sustain
  • Don’t get greedy with damage, survive first

Shogun: Circle strafe, dash his slam attacks, punish after combos Reaper: Stay mobile, his scythe swings have huge range Joker: RNG-based attacks, stay calm and react Krampus: Hardest boss, requires near-perfect play

I failed Joker 20+ times before my first clear. Don’t get discouraged.

Best Endgame Build

After 200 hours, this is what I run:

  • Weapon: Katana (Mythic or Divine)
  • Trait: Prodigy
  • Perk: Vampire
  • Pets: Dragon + Spooky Ghost
  • Passives: AP + CDR
  • Skill Tree: Full Attack path

This build clears every raid solo and hits wave 100+ in endless. Swap Katana for Scythe or Dagger based on preference.

For detailed weapon rankings, check the Hunty Zombie weapons tier list.

Common Mistakes

After watching friends struggle, here’s what kills new players:

Not using dash iframes. Dash makes you invincible for a split second. Use it.

Upgrading bad weapons. Don’t invest in Rare or Epic weapons. Save resources for Legendary+.

Ignoring traits. A Mythic weapon with a bad trait loses to a Legendary with Prodigy.

Skipping Vampire perk. Lifesteal is too good. Get it.

Rushing Hell difficulty. Hell zombies one-shot you without proper stats. Stay on Nightmare until your skill tree is upgraded.

Not redeeming codes. Seriously, there are 70+ codes right now. Free hundreds of spins.

Progression Checklist

Use this to track your progress:

Early Game:

  • Redeem all codes
  • Get Epic+ weapon
  • Clear School on Normal
  • Reach Level 20

Mid Game:

  • Get Vampire perk
  • Roll decent trait (Beast, Focus 3, or better)
  • Get first pet
  • Clear Nightmare difficulty
  • Start Payload grinding

Late Game:

  • Get Prodigy trait
  • Max skill tree path
  • Clear Shogun raid
  • Get Mythic/Divine weapon

Endgame:

  • Solo all raids
  • Hit wave 100 in endless
  • Complete build optimization
