Grow a Garden Weather Events Guide (2026)

Weather events are where the real money is made in Grow a Garden. A Thunderstorm can turn a 50,000 Sheckle harvest into a 5,000,000 Sheckle harvest. I used to farm during normal weather like a fool. Now I basically only plant when events are coming.

This Grow a Garden weather events guide covers every weather event, when they happen, and how to squeeze maximum profit from each one.

For the best seeds to plant during events, check our Grow a Garden Seed Tier List. And grab free seeds from codes so you have stock ready.

Rain

The most common weather event. Not exciting but free value.

What happens: Sky turns gray, rain falls. Crops in your garden have a chance to become Wet.

Mutation: Wet (2x multiplier)

Strategy: Don’t specifically farm for rain. It’s too common and the multiplier is low. But if it’s raining and you need to plant something, go ahead.

Pro tip: Rain can overlap with other events. Wet + another mutation still stacks.

Frost

Winter weather that chills your crops.

What happens: Temperature drops, frost appears. Crops can become Chilled or rarely Frozen.

Mutations:

  • Chilled: 2x multiplier (common)
  • Frozen: 10x multiplier (rare)

Strategy: Frozen is worth farming for. If you see frost weather, plant your good seeds and hope for Frozen instead of Chilled.

Pro tip: Frozen is much rarer than Chilled. Don’t expect it every frost event.

Thunderstorm

This is the big one. The event that makes millionaires.

What happens: Dark clouds, lightning strikes. Crops hit by lightning become Shocked.

Mutation: Shocked (100x multiplier)

Frequency: Thunderstorms are announced in advance. Watch the weather forecast.

Strategy:

  1. When you see “Thunderstorm incoming,” stop everything
  2. Plant your highest-value seeds immediately
  3. Position pets for additional mutations
  4. Wait for lightning to strike your crops
  5. Harvest and sell

Pro tip: Lightning strikes are random. Plant multiple high-value crops to increase your chances of getting Shocked on something good.

Warning: Not every crop will get struck. Some will remain normal. That’s fine. The ones that do get Shocked make up for it.

Night

Happens on a schedule, every 4 hours.

What happens: The server goes dark. Crops have a chance to become Moonlit.

Mutation: Moonlit (2x multiplier)

Duration: About 10 minutes

Strategy: Night itself isn’t that valuable (only 2x), but it’s the gateway to Blood Moon and Meteor Shower. Always be ready when night falls.

Pro tip: Check if it’s a regular night or a Blood Moon. Blood Moon is much more valuable.

Blood Moon

The second-best regular event after Thunderstorms.

What happens: Sky turns deep red, Blood Moon rises. A special Blood Moon shop appears with Owls.

Mutation: Bloodlit (25x multiplier)

Frequency: Replaces about 33% of regular nights. So roughly every 12 hours on average.

Duration: 10 minutes

Strategy:

  1. Blood Moons are announced when night starts
  2. Plant high-value seeds immediately
  3. Bloodlit stacks with other mutations
  4. If a Thunderstorm happens during Blood Moon, you hit the jackpot

Pro tip: The Blood Moon shop sells exclusive items. Check it every time.

Stacking opportunity: Shocked (100x) + Bloodlit (25x) = 2,500x multiplier. This combo is realistic and incredibly profitable.

Whale Waters (New Year’s Event)

A new weather effect added with the New Year’s Event.

What happens: Special atmospheric effect creates unique conditions in your garden.

Mutation: Aquatic (15x multiplier)

Availability: New Year’s Event (December 27, 2025 - January 2026)

Strategy: This is a limited-time weather effect. Farm it while the event lasts.

Meteor Shower

The highest-value event in the game, but requires setup.

What happens: Meteors fall from the sky during night. Crops hit by meteors become Celestial.

Mutation: Celestial (120x multiplier)

Frequency: Can occur during Night or Blood Moon events

Duration: About 10 minutes

Requirement: You need the Star Caller gear to attract meteors to your crops. Without it, meteors land randomly and probably miss your garden.

Strategy:

  1. Get a Star Caller (from gear shop or events)
  2. When Meteor Shower starts, place Star Caller near your best crops
  3. Star Caller attracts up to 3 meteors
  4. Crops hit become Celestial

Pro tip: Star Caller has limited uses. Save it for your highest-value seeds.

Stacking opportunity: Celestial (120x) + Bloodlit (4x) + pet mutation = insane multiplier

Event Schedule

Since the Bizzy Bees update, Night, Blood Moon, and Meteor Shower are on a fixed schedule:

  • Night: Every 4 hours
  • Blood Moon: 33% chance to replace regular night
  • Meteor Shower: Can occur during any night event

Rain, Frost, and Thunderstorms are random but announced in advance.

How to Prepare for Events

Always Have Seeds Ready

Don’t spend all your Sheckles. Keep a stockpile of high-value seeds for events.

Recommended stockpile:

  • 5-10 S-tier seeds (Zebrazinkle, Crimson Thorn, etc.)
  • 10-20 A-tier seeds (Mango, Dragon Fruit, etc.)
  • Unlimited B-tier seeds for filler

Watch the Forecast

The game announces weather events before they happen. Pay attention to chat and UI notifications.

Position Pets in Advance

When an event is coming, move your mutation pets to cover your planting area. Pet mutations stack with weather mutations.

Clear Garden Space

Before major events, harvest everything and clear your plots. You want maximum space for high-value seeds.

Event Stacking (The Real Money)

The best profits come from stacking multiple events:

Thunderstorm + Blood Moon

  • Shocked (100x) + Bloodlit (25x) = 2,500x
  • This is the most realistic high-value combo
  • Happens when thunderstorm occurs during blood moon night

Meteor Shower + Blood Moon

  • Celestial (120x) + Bloodlit (25x) = 3,000x
  • Requires Star Caller
  • Happens during blood moon nights with meteor activity

Triple Stack (Rare)

  • Shocked + Celestial + Bloodlit
  • Requires thunderstorm during meteor shower on blood moon
  • Extremely rare but possible
  • Multiplier: 100 × 120 × 25 = 300,000x before pet mutations

Common Mistakes

Planting during normal weather. Your best seeds should only touch soil when events are active or incoming.

Missing event announcements. Pay attention to the forecast. Missing a Thunderstorm is missing millions.

Not having seeds ready. If a Thunderstorm hits and you have no good seeds, you’ve wasted the event.

Ignoring Blood Moons. 4x isn’t as flashy as 100x, but Blood Moons are more frequent. Consistent Blood Moon farming adds up.

Forgetting Star Caller. Meteor Showers are wasted without Star Caller. The meteors won’t hit your crops.

Selling too early. Wait for mutations to fully apply before harvesting.

Event Priority Ranking

If you can only farm one event type, prioritize:

  1. Thunderstorm - 100x is massive and relatively common
  2. Meteor Shower - 120x but requires Star Caller
  3. Blood Moon - 25x, frequent, good for stacking
  4. Whale Waters - 15x, New Year’s Event exclusive
  5. Frost - 10x if you get Frozen
  6. Night - 2x, baseline for other events
  7. Rain - 2x, too common to specifically farm
