Pets in Grow a Garden aren’t just cute companions. They’re money-making machines. The right pet can turn your crops into mutated goldmines worth 135x their base value. I ignored pets for way too long, thinking they were cosmetic. Massive mistake.
The game now has 245+ pets after the New Year’s Event update. This Grow a Garden pet tier list ranks them based on their actual impact on your farming profits.

Quick Tier Overview
| Tier | Pets | Why |
|---|---|---|
| S+ | Disco Bee, Kitsune, Golden Goose, Space Squirrel | Best mutation multipliers (50x-135x) |
| S | Dragonfly, T-Rex, Spinosaurus, Raccoon | Gold mutations, mutation spreading |
| A | Praying Mantis, Queen Bee, Mimic Octopus, Ghostly Dark Spriggan | Solid mutations, utility |
| B | Golden Lab, Blood Hedgehog, Moon Cat | Decent passive effects |
| C | Starfish, Pack Bee, Basic pets | Starter options |
| D | Most common pets | Minimal impact |
S+ Tier (Game-Changing Pets)
These pets are worth whatever you have to pay. They fundamentally change your profit potential.
| Pet | Ability | Mutation | Multiplier | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Disco Bee | 12% chance to apply Disco every 20 min | Disco | 125x | Anti Bee Egg (0.25%) |
| Kitsune | Copies mutations from other players’ fruits | Foxfire Chakra | 100x | Zen Update Egg |
| Golden Goose | Spawns Fortune Eggplant | High value crop | N/A | Golden Egg |
| Space Squirrel | Applies Voidtouched to nearby crops | Voidtouched | 135x | Space Egg (rare) |
Disco Bee is currently considered the best pet. The 125x Disco mutation is insane, and it triggers automatically every 20 minutes. The 0.25% hatch rate makes it rare, but worth hunting.
Kitsune from the Zen Update copies mutations from other players’ gardens. Every 22 minutes, it duplicates mutations and applies them to your crops. Broken in populated servers.
Golden Goose spawns Fortune Eggplant, a high-value crop. Consistent passive income without any effort.
S Tier (Excellent Pets)
These pets are top-tier and more accessible than S+ options.
| Pet | Ability | Effect | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dragonfly | Turns random crop Gold every 5 min | Gold (20x) | Bug Egg |
| T-Rex | Consumes mutations and redistributes | Spreads mutations | Dino Egg |
| Spinosaurus | Clones mutations from your crops | Spreads mutations | Dino Egg |
| Raccoon | Steals crops from other gardens | Free crops | Forest Egg |
| Butterfly | Converts 5+ mutation crops to Rainbow | Rainbow (50x) | Bug Egg |
Dragonfly is the most consistent S-tier pet. Every 5 minutes, one of your crops becomes Gold (20x multiplier). That’s 12 Gold mutations per hour, guaranteed.
T-Rex is incredible for large-scale operations. It consumes mutations from one crop and redistributes them across multiple plants. Spread valuable mutations everywhere.
Raccoon straight up steals crops from nearby gardens. Not mutations, actual crops. Free inventory.
A Tier (Solid Pets)
Reliable pets that provide consistent value.
| Pet | Ability | Effect | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Praying Mantis | Applies mutations to crops | Various | Bug Egg |
| Queen Bee | Pollinates nearby fruit every 20 min | Pollinated (3x) | Bee Egg |
| Mimic Octopus | Copies other pets’ abilities | Versatile | Ocean Egg |
| Ghostly Dark Spriggan | Spreads Blight/Necrotic mutations | Necrotic (rare) | Mythical Egg |
| Golem | Interacts with Mutation Machine | Machine synergy | Rock Egg |
| Moth | Auto-feeds your pets while AFK | Utility | Bug Egg |
Queen Bee is underrated. Pollinated is only 3x, but it stacks with everything else. Free 3x multiplier every 20 minutes on top of your other mutations.
Mimic Octopus copies whatever pet is next to it. Put it next to your Disco Bee and now you have two Disco Bees. Flexible and powerful.
Ghostly Dark Spriggan occasionally spreads roots that mutate nearby fruits into Blight or the rarer Necrotic variant. Perfect for advanced players focused on rare mutations.
Moth is actually A-tier despite what some lists say. It auto-feeds your pets while AFK. If you have 2 Moths, it’s incredibly efficient for overnight farming.
B Tier (Good Pets)
Decent pets for mid-game or specific strategies.
| Pet | Ability | Effect | Source |
|---|---|---|---|
| Golden Lab | Passive gold generation | Income | Golden Egg |
| Blood Hedgehog | Applies Bloodlit during Blood Moon | Bloodlit (4x) | Spooky Egg |
| Moon Cat | Moonlit effects at night | Moonlit (2x) | Night Egg |
| Starfish | Basic crop buffs | Growth speed | Ocean Egg |
| Pack Bee | Pollination assist | Pollinated (3x) | Bee Egg |
Blood Hedgehog is situational but strong. During Blood Moons, it guarantees Bloodlit mutations on your crops. If you’re farming Blood Moon events, this pet is essential.
Moon Cat does the same for regular nights with Moonlit (2x). Less valuable but more frequent.
C Tier (Starter Pets)
Good for early game, replace when possible.
| Pet | Ability | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Basic Dog | Minor buffs | Starter pet |
| Basic Cat | Minor buffs | Starter pet |
| Chicken | Egg production | Resource generation |
| Bunny | Growth speed | Slight boost |
| Hamster | Storage help | Inventory utility |
These pets are fine when you’re starting out. They provide small bonuses that help early game. But once you can afford better eggs, upgrade immediately.
D Tier (Skip)
Pets that aren’t worth the slot.
| Pet | Why It’s Bad |
|---|---|
| Most common hatches | No meaningful abilities |
| Cosmetic-only pets | Look cool, do nothing |
| Outdated event pets | Power crept by newer options |
If a pet doesn’t apply mutations or generate resources, it’s taking up a slot that could go to something useful.

How to Get Rare Pets
Egg Sources
| Egg | Cost | Best Pets |
|---|---|---|
| Bug Egg | 500,000 | Butterfly (1%), Dragonfly |
| Anti Bee Egg | 1,000,000 | Disco Bee (0.25%) |
| Dino Egg | 2,000,000 | T-Rex, Spinosaurus |
| Space Egg | 5,000,000 | Space Squirrel (rare) |
| Golden Egg | 10,000,000 | Golden Goose |
| New Year’s Egg | Event Shop | Event exclusives |
Trading
Rare pets like Disco Bee and Kitsune are heavily traded. Check Discord servers and trading hubs. Sometimes trading is faster than hatching.
Codes and Events
Some codes give free eggs. The New Year’s Event gives free eggs through daily login rewards.
Pet Weight System
Pets have weight that affects their power:
- Normal hatch: 0.88-2.20kg
- Shop/chest pets: 0.88-1.32kg
- “Huge” modifier (0.1% chance): 4x weight multiplier
Higher weight = stronger abilities. A huge Disco Bee is significantly better than a normal one.
Common Mistakes
Ignoring pets entirely. Pets are not cosmetic. They’re core to the money-making loop.
Using all slots for the same pet. Diversity is better. Different pets provide different mutations that stack.
Not positioning pets properly. Pets have range. Make sure they’re actually near your crops.
Selling rare pets. That Butterfly you hatched is worth keeping, not selling for quick Sheckles.
Skipping egg purchases. Eggs are investments. The right pet pays for itself many times over.
Pet + Mutation Stacking
Pets stack with weather mutations. Here’s an example:
Setup: Disco Bee + Dragonfly + Queen Bee near your Mango tree
During Thunderstorm:
- Base Mango: 65,000
- Shocked (weather): 65,000 × 100 = 6,500,000
- Gold (Dragonfly): 6,500,000 × 20 = 130,000,000
- Disco (Disco Bee): 130,000,000 × 25 = 3,250,000,000
- Pollinated (Queen Bee): 3,250,000,000 × 3 = 9,750,000,000
One Mango. 9.75 billion Sheckles. This is why pets matter.
