FNAF Eternal Nights Beginner Guide (January 2026)

I thought I knew FNAF. Played the original games, watched the lore videos, felt confident. Then I loaded into FNAF Eternal Nights and died within 2 minutes. Turns out sitting in an office clicking doors is very different from actually walking through Freddy Fazbear’s Pizza while animatronics hunt you.

This game is essentially Dead by Daylight meets Five Nights at Freddy’s. You’re not watching cameras from safety. You’re IN the pizzeria, hiding in lockers, managing your flashlight battery, and trying to survive until 6 AM. I’ve screamed out loud more times than I’d like to admit. My roommate thinks I’m losing it.

After finally surviving all 5 nights (and dying 73 times in the process, yes I counted), here’s everything you need to know.

Grab the free coins and revives from codes first. You’ll need the revives. Especially on Night 4 and 5.

How the Game Works

Your goal is simple: survive from midnight until 6 AM. Each night gets progressively harder with more animatronics becoming active and aggressive.

The basics:

  • Explore the pizzeria while avoiding animatronics
  • Find fuses to restore power
  • Use cameras to monitor animatronic locations
  • Hide in lockers and barrels when spotted
  • Reach 6 AM to complete the night

What kills you:

  • Getting caught by animatronics
  • Running out of options (no battery, no hiding spots, no escape routes)
  • Ignoring the Puppet’s music box

Essential Mechanics

Flashlight

Your flashlight is your lifeline. It lets you see in the dark and stuns Foxy.

Battery management:

  • Don’t leave it on constantly
  • Use short bursts to check areas
  • Keep at least 20% for emergencies
  • Foxy encounters drain battery fast

The Mask

The Freddy Fazbear mask fools most animatronics into thinking you’re one of them.

Works on: Chica, Bonnie, Foxy, Cupcake Doesn’t work on: Freddy, Golden Freddy, Puppet

Critical rule: Put the mask on BEFORE an animatronic sees you. Once spotted, the mask won’t help.

Power and Fuses

The pizzeria has a power system controlled by fuses. With power on, you can:

  • Close security room doors
  • Use certain cameras more effectively
  • Have a safe zone to retreat to

Find fuses early. Freddy only becomes active when power is out. Keeping power on is your best defense against him.

Hiding Spots

Lockers and barrels are scattered throughout the pizzeria.

The catch: Some animatronics will check hiding spots. Don’t rely on hiding alone. Use it as a last resort or to break line of sight.

Cameras

The camera system lets you monitor animatronic positions without being in danger.

Uses:

  • Track where animatronics are
  • Flash beacon to stun Foxy remotely
  • Charge the Puppet’s music box

The Music Box

The Puppet spawns from a box behind the souvenir counter. To prevent this, you need to charge the TV on the counter.

Charge methods:

  • Manually interact with the TV
  • Use the camera system

Don’t forget this. The Puppet has no weaknesses once spawned.

Night-by-Night Strategy

Night 1

Active animatronics: Chica, Bonnie, Foxy

This is your learning night. The animatronics are slower and less aggressive.

Priorities:

  1. Learn the map layout
  2. Find all fuse locations
  3. Locate hiding spots
  4. Practice using the mask

Tips:

  • Chica is usually on the stage. She’ll start roaming soon.
  • Bonnie might be sitting in hallways. Check corners.
  • Foxy is fast but the flashlight stops him.

Night 2

Active animatronics: All from Night 1 + Freddy becomes more active

Power management becomes critical. Freddy starts moving when power fails.

Priorities:

  1. Restore power immediately
  2. Keep the music box charged
  3. Establish a patrol route between key areas

Tips:

  • Freddy can open doors. The security room isn’t safe from him.
  • If you hear the Toreador March, Freddy is close.
  • Start developing a routine: check cameras, charge music box, check fuses.

Night 3

Active animatronics: All previous with increased aggression

Animatronics move faster and check hiding spots more frequently.

Priorities:

  1. Don’t rely on single strategies
  2. Have backup plans for every situation
  3. Keep moving, don’t camp one spot

Tips:

  • Hiding in the same locker twice is risky. They remember.
  • Multiple animatronics can hunt you simultaneously.
  • Battery conservation is crucial.

Night 4

Active animatronics: All previous + Puppet becomes a major threat

The Puppet will spawn if you neglect the music box. Don’t let this happen. Seriously. The Puppet has no counter.

Priorities:

  1. Music box charging is mandatory
  2. Power must stay on
  3. Have revives ready

Tips:

  • The Puppet has no counter once spawned. Prevention only.
  • Cupcake guards the music box area. Deal with it quickly.
  • This is where most players hit a wall. I was stuck here for 8 attempts.

Night 5

Active animatronics: Everyone + Golden Freddy destroys fuses

The final night. Golden Freddy will sabotage the fuse room, killing power. This is where most players give up. Don’t.

Priorities:

  1. Accept that power will fail
  2. Master non-power survival strategies
  3. Use revives strategically

Tips:

  • Golden Freddy appears in the fuse room early. You might spot him.
  • Once power dies, Freddy becomes your biggest threat.
  • The mask and hiding are your only options without power.
  • I beat Night 5 on my 11th attempt. Hands were shaking. Worth it.

Common Mistakes

I made all of these. Learn from my pain.

Running everywhere. Bonnie hears you. Walk unless you’re being chased. I died to Bonnie 12 times before figuring this out.

Ignoring the music box. The Puppet will spawn and you will die. Charge it regularly. Forgot once on Night 4. Once. Never again.

Wasting flashlight battery. Short bursts, not constant light. You need battery for Foxy encounters. Running out at 5:47 AM during a Foxy chase? Worst feeling ever.

Relying only on hiding. Animatronics check hiding spots. Use hiding to break chase, then relocate. Same locker twice? They remember.

Forgetting the mask timing. Put it on BEFORE you’re spotted. After is too late. The mask is useless once they see you.

Neglecting fuses. Power keeps Freddy dormant. Find fuses immediately. Freddy with no power is basically a death sentence.

Panicking. Sound cues tell you where animatronics are. Listen, don’t panic. Easier said than done when Foxy is sprinting at you, but still.

Pro Tips

These are the things that finally got me through Night 5.

Sound is everything. Animatronics are loud. You can hear them walking from rooms away. Play with headphones. I cranked my volume to 80% and my survival rate doubled.

Learn the map. Know where every hiding spot, fuse, and escape route is. Map knowledge saves lives. Took me about 15 runs to memorize everything.

Establish a routine. Check cameras, charge music box, verify power, repeat. Consistency prevents surprises. I check the music box every 2 minutes now. Mental timer.

Save revives for later nights. Dying on Night 1 is a learning experience. Dying on Night 5 when you’re close to winning is painful. I wasted 3 revives on Night 1. Don’t be me.

The security room is a trap. It feels safe but Freddy can open doors. Don’t camp there. I learned this at 5:30 AM on Night 3. Freddy just… walked in.

Watch for Golden Freddy. When he teleports near you and makes noise, other animatronics will come. Move immediately. He’s basically a walking alarm system.

Difficulty Settings

You can adjust difficulty in Story Mode:

Easier: Animatronics are slower, less aggressive, check hiding spots less often Harder: Faster animatronics, more frequent checks, shorter reaction windows

Start on easier difficulty to learn mechanics. Increase once you’re comfortable.

What Coins Buy

Coins from codes and gameplay unlock upgrades:

  • Better flashlights: Longer battery, brighter beam
  • Detection tools: Early warning for nearby animatronics
  • Survival items: Emergency tools for desperate situations

Prioritize flashlight upgrades. Battery life is your biggest limitation.
