FNAF Eternal Nights Animatronics Guide (2026)

All 7 FNAF Eternal Nights animatronics explained with counter strategies, weaknesses, and mask effectiveness. This guide covers Freddy, Bonnie, Chica, Foxy, Golden Freddy, Puppet, and Cupcake behaviors.

Bonnie heard me from two rooms away. I wasn't even running. Just walking normally. Turns out he has better hearing and I'd been making noise the entire time without realizing it. Died 4 times to him before I figured it out.

That's when I learned that each animatronic in FNAF Eternal Nights has completely different behaviors, and treating them the same way gets you killed. Fast.

After surviving all 5 nights (and dying 73 times in the process, yes I tracked it), I've figured out exactly how each animatronic works and how to counter them. This guide covers all 7 animatronics with their behaviors, weaknesses, and the strategies that actually work.

Grab the free coins and revives from codes before attempting the harder nights. You'll need them. Especially for Night 5.

General Survival Tips

Before diving into individual animatronics, these tips apply to everyone:

Play with sound on. Non-negotiable. Animatronics are loud when they walk. You can hear them coming from rooms away and avoid them entirely. I play with headphones cranked up. My neighbors probably think I'm insane.

The mask works on most animatronics. Put it on BEFORE they see you. Once spotted, the mask won't help. It's ineffective against Freddy and Golden Freddy. Why would you ever not have it ready? Seriously.

Running attracts attention. Some animatronics track by sound. Walking is safer unless you're already being chased. Learned this the hard way with Bonnie.

The security room is your safe zone. If you've found fuses and restored power, you can close the doors. This blocks most animatronics. Except Freddy. He can open doors. (Yeah, I know. Terrifying.)

Lockers and barrels are hiding spots. But some animatronics will check them. Don't rely on hiding alone. I hid in the same locker 3 times on Night 3. They remembered.

Sound Cue Cheat Sheet

Sound Meaning Action
Heavy footsteps Bonnie nearby Stop moving
Metallic scraping Foxy running Get flashlight ready
Music box winding down Puppet spawning soon Charge the TV
Door creaking Animatronic entering room Hide or run
Static burst Golden Freddy teleport Move away from area
Laughter Freddy is active Check power immediately

Play with headphones. Speakers don't give you directional audio, and knowing which direction sounds come from saves lives.

Fuse Locations Map

Finding fuses fast is the difference between surviving and watching Freddy walk through your door. I've memorized these spawn points after 70+ runs.

Location Fuse Spawn Chance Notes
Parts & Service High Check the shelves first
Kitchen Medium Near the ovens
Backstage High Behind the curtains
Supply Closet Medium Easy to miss in the dark
Prize Corner Low Near the Puppet's box
Main Hall Low Random floor spawns

Fuses glow slightly in the dark. If you're having trouble spotting them, lower your gamma settings. The glow becomes more visible.

Chica

Trait Detail
Location Stage in first room, roams hallways
Active Night 1+
Weakness Reduced FOV when you crouch
Mask Effective
Difficulty Easy

Chica is usually the first animatronic you'll encounter. She starts on the stage and begins roaming early. Honestly? She's the least threatening once you know the trick.

How she works: Chica relies on sight to track you. She has a normal field of vision when you're standing, but it's significantly reduced when you're crouching. Like, dramatically reduced.

How to counter her:

  • Create distance between you and Chica
  • Crouch near an object or wall
  • She'll lose track of you and stop chasing

What doesn't work: Shining the flashlight at her does nothing. Don't waste battery. I burned through 40% battery on Night 1 trying to flashlight her before realizing it was pointless.

Tip: If Chica spots you, run first to create distance, THEN crouch. Crouching right in front of her won't save you. Ask me how I know.

Bonnie

Trait Detail
Location Stage or sitting in hallways
Active Night 1+
Weakness Relies on sound, not sight
Mask Effective
Difficulty Medium

Bonnie is the sound hunter. He's not the fastest, but his hearing range is massive. This guy killed me more than any other animatronic in my first 20 runs.

How he works: Bonnie tracks you by sound. Running, walking loudly, or making noise alerts him to your position even from far away. Two rooms away? He heard you.

How to counter him:

  • Move slowly and quietly when he's nearby
  • If he hasn't spotted you yet, stop moving entirely
  • If spotted, run and find a hiding spot quickly

What doesn't work: Crouching doesn't help against Bonnie. He's listening, not looking. I crouched for 30 seconds thinking I was safe. He walked right to me.

Tip: Bonnie often sits in hallways. Check corners before walking through. If you see him sitting, go around another way. Don't try to sneak past. Just don't.

Foxy

Trait Detail
Location Stage, roams aggressively
Active Night 1-2+
Weakness Flashlight stuns him
Mask Effective
Difficulty Medium-Hard

Foxy is fast. One of the fastest animatronics in the game. But he has a critical weakness that makes him manageable. If you know it.

How he works: Foxy chases aggressively once he spots you. He's faster than you, so outrunning him isn't reliable. I tried. Multiple times. It doesn't work.

How to counter him:

  • Shine your flashlight directly at him
  • He'll stop and eventually back off
  • Camera flash also works if you're viewing through cameras

What doesn't work: Running without the flashlight. He'll catch you. Every. Single. Time.

Tip: Watch your battery percentage. If Foxy starts chasing and your flashlight dies, you're dead. Keep at least 20% battery as a safety buffer. I died on Night 4 at 5:47 AM because my battery hit 0% mid-Foxy chase. Still mad about it.

Freddy

Trait Detail
Location Roams when power is out
Active Night 2-3+ (mainly when power fails)
Weakness Keep the power on
Mask NOT effective
Difficulty Hard

Freddy is the main threat. He's the reason you need to find fuses and maintain power. This animatronic is genuinely terrifying.

How he works: Freddy only becomes active when the power goes out. Once active, he's dangerous. He can open doors, which means the security room won't protect you. Let that sink in.

How to counter him:

  • Find fuses and keep the power on
  • If power fails, hide immediately
  • When he finds you, a minigame starts where you spam spacebar to survive

What doesn't work: The mask doesn't fool Freddy. The security room doors don't stop him. Running is pointless. He's unstoppable once active.

Tip: Prioritize fuses above everything else. Freddy is manageable if you never let him activate. Once the power's out, your survival chances drop to maybe 20%. I've survived powerless runs exactly twice out of probably 15 attempts.

Advanced Freddy Counter

The spacebar minigame when Freddy catches you has a pattern. The bar moves faster as the night progresses.

Night Bar Speed Spam Rate Needed
1-2 Slow Casual tapping
3 Medium Steady rhythm
4 Fast Aggressive spam
5 Insane Mash like your life depends on it

I've survived Freddy on Night 5 exactly once. My spacebar still hasn't recovered.

Cupcake

Trait Detail
Location Guards the Puppet's music box
Active When near the music box
Weakness Flashlight removes it, can be lured
Mask N/A (different attack pattern)

Cupcake is unique. It's a small cupcake that guards the Puppet's music box area.

How it works: Cupcake doesn't chase you around the map. It attacks when you get too close to the Puppet's music box. Unlike other animatronics, it doesn't instantly kill you. It deals damage and latches onto your face.

How to counter it:

  • Shine the flashlight to remove it from your face
  • Lure it into another room and close the door behind it
  • Avoid the music box area unless necessary

What doesn't work: Ignoring it. The damage adds up and you'll die if you don't remove it.

Tip: You need to charge the music box TV to prevent the Puppet from spawning. Deal with Cupcake quickly, charge the TV, and get out.

Puppet

Trait Detail
Location Spawns from box behind souvenir counter
Active When music box TV isn't charged
Weakness Prevent spawning by charging the TV
Mask NOT effective once spawned
Difficulty Nightmare

The Puppet is one of the most dangerous animatronics because it has no weaknesses once it spawns. None. Zero. You just die.

How it works: The Puppet spawns from the big box behind the souvenir counter in the first room. If you don't charge the TV on the counter, it will eventually emerge and hunt you.

How to counter it:

  • Charge the TV on the souvenir counter regularly
  • You can charge it manually or through the camera system
  • Prevention is the only reliable strategy

What doesn't work: Once the Puppet spawns, there's no reliable counter. Running and hiding are your only options, and neither works well. I've escaped the Puppet exactly once. Once. Out of maybe 8 spawns.

Tip: Make charging the TV part of your routine. Check it every time you pass through the first room. A few seconds of charging prevents a nightmare scenario. I set a mental timer now. Every 2 minutes, check the TV.

Golden Freddy

Trait Detail
Location Stalks you, can teleport
Active Every night (background threat)
Weakness None (avoidance only)
Mask NOT effective

Golden Freddy is the wildcard. He stalks you every night but rarely attacks directly.

How he works: Golden Freddy can teleport. When he teleports near you, he makes noise that attracts other animatronics to your location. On Night 5, he destroys the fuses in the fuse room, killing the power.

How to counter him:

  • You can't counter him directly
  • When he appears and makes noise, move away quickly
  • On Night 5, expect the power to fail

What doesn't work: The mask, flashlight, hiding. Nothing reliably stops Golden Freddy.

Tip: If you go straight to the fuse room from spawn, you might spot Golden Freddy walking there. He appears in a cutscene after completing Night 1.

Night-by-Night Breakdown

Night 1

Active animatronics: Chica, Bonnie, Foxy

Focus on learning the map and finding fuses. These three are manageable with basic strategies.

Night 2

Active animatronics: All from Night 1 + Freddy becomes more active

Power management becomes critical. Find all fuses early.

Night 3

Active animatronics: All previous + increased aggression

Animatronics move faster and check hiding spots more often. Don't rely on one strategy.

Night 4

Active animatronics: All previous + Puppet becomes a bigger threat

Keep that music box charged. Multiple animatronics hunting you at once is overwhelming.

Night 5

Active animatronics: Everyone + Golden Freddy destroys fuses

The hardest night. Golden Freddy will kill the power. Be ready to survive without the security room.

Quick Reference Table

Animatronic Mask Works? Flashlight Works? Key Counter
Chica Yes No Crouch to reduce her FOV
Bonnie Yes No Stay quiet, don't make noise
Foxy Yes Yes (stuns) Shine flashlight directly at him
Freddy No No Keep power on, spam spacebar if caught
Cupcake N/A Yes (removes) Lure away, close door
Puppet No No Charge music box TV to prevent spawn
Golden Freddy No No Can't counter, just avoid

Co-op Strategies

Playing with friends changes everything. Here's what works:

2 Players:

  • One person handles fuses, one watches cameras
  • Rotate roles every 2 minutes
  • Call out animatronic positions constantly

3-5 Players:

  • Dedicated camera watcher
  • Two fuse runners
  • One or two floaters for emergencies
  • The camera person is the most important role

Voice chat is mandatory. Text chat is too slow. Animatronics move fast and you need real-time callouts.

Revive Mechanics

Revives from codes aren't unlimited uses. Each revive is a single-use item.

When you die:

  1. A revive prompt appears
  2. You have 5 seconds to use it
  3. You respawn at the security room
  4. Animatronics reset positions briefly

Save revives for Night 4 and 5. Dying on Night 1-3 is a learning experience. Dying on Night 5 at 5:47 AM is pain.

Ball Pit Easter Egg

There's a rare ball pit that spawns with a 0.5% chance in the toy room. Jumping in teleports you to a secret area with bonus coins. I've found it twice in 70+ runs.

The ball pit looks out of place. If you see colorful balls in a room that normally doesn't have them, jump in.
