I’ve dumped over 300 hours into Fisch. Started with a Flimsy Rod, now I’m running a No-Life Rod with perfect enchants. This game looks simple on the surface but the depth is insane. Over 40,000 fish types, multiple islands, submarines, enchanting systems. It’s a lot.
This guide covers everything I wish I knew when I started. Would’ve saved me probably 50 hours of wasted grinding.
Your First Hour
You spawn on Moosewood with a Flimsy Rod. It’s garbage. Accept this. Your goal is to replace it as fast as possible.
Talk to Pierre immediately. He gives you starter quests that reward cash and XP. Don’t skip these. I ignored them my first playthrough and regretted it.
Fish anywhere on Moosewood until you hit Level 5. Takes maybe 15-20 minutes. The fish here are common but the XP adds up.
Rod Progression (The Most Important Thing)
Your rod determines everything. Better rod equals better fish equals more money equals better rod. It’s a loop.
Here’s the optimal progression path:
Flimsy Rod → Plastic Rod → Steady Rod → Long Rod → Mythical Rod
| Rod | Cost | Where to Get |
|---|---|---|
| Flimsy Rod | Free | Starting rod |
| Plastic Rod | $500 | Moosewood Merchant |
| Steady Rod | $5,000 | Roslit Bay Merchant |
| Long Rod | $25,000 | Roslit Bay Merchant |
| Mythical Rod | $110,000 | Travelling Merchant |
The Steady Rod is your first real rod. It can catch basically anything in the game (not easily, but it’s possible). I used mine for like 40 hours before upgrading.
The Mythical Rod is the sweet spot. 70% Luck stat is insane for hunting rare fish. This should be your mid-game goal.
Best Early Game Fishing Spots
Moosewood (Levels 1-10)
- Fish anywhere on the shore
- Target: Bass, Trout, Salmon
- Why: Safe, consistent XP, close to merchant
Roslit Bay (Levels 10-30)
- Fish near the docks or the deeper water
- Target: Manta Ray, Nurse Shark, Angel Fish
- Why: Better fish, better money, access to better rods
The Depths (Levels 30+)
- Requires diving equipment
- Target: Deep sea fish, rare spawns
- Why: This is where the money starts getting real
I spent way too long on Moosewood. Don’t be me. Move to Roslit Bay as soon as you can afford the Steady Rod.
Money Making Strategies
Early game money is slow. Accept it. Here’s how to speed it up.
Sell everything at first. Don’t hoard fish hoping they’ll be useful later. You need cash for rod upgrades. I kept a full inventory of “maybe useful” fish for weeks. Waste of time.
Target high-value common fish. Some common fish sell for way more than others. Manta Rays at Roslit Bay are solid early money.
Use the right bait. Each fish has preferred bait. Using the right bait increases catch rate significantly. Check the Fisch Trello for bait preferences.
Don’t buy cosmetics early. I know the skins look cool. Resist. Every dollar should go toward rod upgrades until you have the Mythical Rod.
Understanding Stats
Every rod has five stats. Here’s what they actually mean.
Lure Speed: How fast fish bite. Higher is better for grinding.
Luck: Chance of catching rare fish. The most important stat for hunting legendaries.
Control: How easy the minigame is. Lower is actually better (tighter control).
Resilience: Reduces line break chance. Important for heavy fish.
Weight Limit: Maximum fish weight you can catch. Some fish are literally uncatchable without enough weight capacity.
The No-Life Rod has infinite weight limit. That’s why it’s the endgame rod. But it requires Level 500. That’s hundreds of hours.
Enchanting Basics
You unlock enchanting at Level 25. It’s a game changer.
Enchants add bonus effects to your rod. The best ones are:
| Enchant | Effect |
|---|---|
| Hasty | Increases lure speed |
| Lucky | Increases luck stat |
| Resilient | Reduces line break chance |
| Heavyweight | Increases weight limit |
Hasty is the meta for grinding. Faster bites equals more fish equals more XP and money.
Lucky is the meta for hunting. When you’re targeting specific rare fish, luck is everything.
I run Hasty on my grinding rod and Lucky on my hunting rod. Two rods, two purposes.
Common Mistakes I Made
Buying rods out of order. I bought the Long Rod before the Steady Rod because it was “better.” Wasted money. The Steady Rod is more cost-efficient for its tier.
Ignoring quests. NPCs give quests with solid rewards. I skipped them for weeks thinking fishing was faster. It wasn’t.
Not using totems. Totems boost your stats temporarily. I had dozens sitting in my inventory unused. Use them. That’s what they’re for.
Fishing in the wrong spots. Each location has different fish pools. I spent hours fishing in Moosewood trying to catch fish that literally don’t spawn there.
Selling rare fish. Some fish are needed for quests or collections. I sold a few that I later needed and had to grind for hours to catch again.
Endgame Content
Once you have the Mythical Rod and hit Level 50+, the game opens up.
Mariana’s Veil is the deep sea area. Requires a submarine. The fish here are worth insane money but the difficulty spikes hard.
Legendary fish hunting becomes viable. These fish have specific spawn conditions, locations, and bait requirements. Some only appear during certain weather or times.
Enchant optimization matters more. You’ll want perfect enchants on multiple rods for different purposes.
The Bestiary tracks every fish you’ve caught. Completionists will spend hundreds of hours filling this out. There are over 40,000 fish types.
