Fisch Bait Guide (January 2026)

I wasted probably 50 hours using the wrong bait before I figured out how the system actually works. Bait in Fisch isn’t just “better bait = better fish.” Each bait has preferred fish, stat modifiers, and specific use cases. This guide breaks it all down.

Here’s the thing most players don’t realize: using the right bait can double or triple your catch rate for specific fish. I went from catching 1 Megalodon per hour to 3 just by switching baits.

How Bait Works

Every bait in Fisch has three components:

  1. Stat Modifiers - Changes to Luck, Lure Speed, etc.
  2. Preferred Fish - Certain fish bite more often with specific baits
  3. Rarity - Determines how hard it is to obtain

Using a fish’s preferred bait significantly increases your catch rate. This is the key to efficient farming.

S-Tier Baits (The Best)

These are the baits you want for serious fishing.

Luminous Larva

StatValue
Luck+25
Lure Speed+15
RarityExotic

Preferred Fish: Vortex Ray, Sea Leviathan, Verdant Mirage, Abyssborn Monstrosity, Phantom Koi, Psychedelic Frogfish

How to Get: Fish up Tropical Bait Crates in the Second Sea

My Take: This is the best bait in the game. Period. The +25 Luck is insane and it’s preferred by multiple Secret Fish. I save these exclusively for legendary hunting.

Truffle Worm

StatValue
Luck+20
Lure Speed-10
RarityRare

Preferred Fish: Most Mythical fish, including Scylla, Nessie, Captain’s Goldfish

How to Get:

  • Open Volcanic Geodes (best method)
  • Open Coral Geodes
  • Rare Bait Crates (1% chance, not worth it)

My Take: The go-to bait for mythical hunting. The -10 Lure Speed hurts but the +20 Luck and mythical preference makes up for it. I farm Volcanic Geodes specifically for these.

Kraken Tentacle

StatValue
Luck+15
Weight Limit+5000 KG
RarityRare

Preferred Fish: Megalodon, Giant Squid, Kraken, deep sea fish

How to Get:

  • Codes (SORRYGUYS gives 2)
  • Rare Bait Crates
  • Kraken boss drops

My Take: Essential for Megalodon hunts. The weight limit boost helps catch heavy fish that would otherwise break your line. I always keep 10+ in reserve.

A-Tier Baits (Excellent)

Solid baits for specific situations.

Fish Head

StatValue
Luck+10
Lure Speed+5
RarityUncommon

Preferred Fish: Sharks, predatory fish

How to Get: Merchant (cheap), Bait Crates

My Take: My daily driver for shark farming at Roslit Bay. Cheap, effective, and easy to stock up on. I buy 100 at a time.

Squid

StatValue
Luck+8
Lure Speed+8
RarityUncommon

Preferred Fish: Deep sea fish, Abyssal creatures

How to Get: Merchant, Bait Crates

My Take: Great all-rounder for Mariana’s Veil. Balanced stats and preferred by multiple valuable fish.

Shrimp

StatValue
Luck+5
Lure Speed+10
RarityCommon

Preferred Fish: General ocean fish, Manta Ray

How to Get: Merchant (very cheap), everywhere

My Take: The budget option that actually works. High lure speed means more bites per minute. Perfect for XP grinding.

Instant Catcher

StatValue
EffectInstant catch
RarityRare

Preferred Fish: None (works on any)

How to Get: Codes (RFG, GOLDENTIDE), Events

My Take: Skips the minigame entirely. I save these for when I spot a legendary and don’t want to risk losing it to a failed minigame.

B-Tier Baits (Good)

Useful in specific situations.

Rapid Catcher

StatValue
Lure Speed+30
Luck-5
RarityUncommon

Preferred Fish: None specific

How to Get: Merchant, Bait Crates

My Take: Pure speed bait. Great for XP grinding when you don’t care about rarity. The -5 Luck hurts for legendary hunting though.

Hangman’s Hook

StatValue
Luck+12
Control+10
RarityRare

Preferred Fish: Difficult minigame fish

How to Get: Codes (ATLANTEANSTORM), Events

My Take: The control boost makes hard fish easier to reel in. Good for Scylla attempts.

Holly Berry (Fischmas)

StatValue
Luck+15
Event BonusFischmas fish
RarityEvent

Preferred Fish: Fischmas event fish

How to Get: Codes (FISCHMASDAY, NorthernExpedition, MERRYFISCHMAS)

My Take: Essential during Fischmas. Significantly boosts event fish catch rates.

Peppermint Worm (Fischmas)

StatValue
Luck+12
Lure Speed+8
Event BonusFischmas fish
RarityEvent

Preferred Fish: Fischmas event fish

How to Get: Codes (FISCHMASDAY, NorthernExpedition, MERRYFISCHMAS)

My Take: Slightly worse than Holly Berry but still good for the event.

Frostnova Bait (Boreal Pines)

StatValue
Luck+18
Cold ResistanceYes
RarityRare

Preferred Fish: Boreal Pines fish, Frostwyrm

How to Get: Codes (BorealPines, MerryFischmas2)

My Take: Required for efficient Boreal Pines farming. The cold resistance is a nice bonus.

C-Tier Baits (Situational)

Not bad, but there’s usually a better option.

Worm

StatValue
Luck+2
Lure Speed+2
RarityCommon

Preferred Fish: Basic fish

How to Get: Merchant (dirt cheap)

My Take: Starter bait. Replace it as soon as you can afford better.

Minnow

StatValue
Luck+3
Lure Speed+5
RarityCommon

Preferred Fish: Small predators

How to Get: Merchant

My Take: Slightly better than Worm. Still not great.

Cricket

StatValue
Luck+4
Lure Speed+3
RarityCommon

Preferred Fish: Surface fish

How to Get: Merchant

My Take: Decent for early game. Outclassed quickly.

D-Tier Baits (Skip)

Not worth using unless you have nothing else.

No Bait

Using no bait is always worse than using any bait. Even a basic Worm is better than nothing.

Bread

StatValue
Luck+1
Lure Speed+1
RarityCommon

My Take: Why does this exist? Just buy Worms.

Best Bait by Situation

Here’s what I use for different scenarios:

XP Grinding:

  • Rapid Catcher or Shrimp
  • Maximize bites per minute
  • Don’t care about rarity

Money Farming:

  • Fish Head at Roslit Bay (sharks)
  • Squid at Mariana’s Veil
  • Truffle Worm at Forsaken Shores

Legendary Hunting:

  • Truffle Worm (mythicals)
  • Kraken Tentacle (heavy fish)
  • Luminous Larva (secret fish)

Megalodon Hunts:

  • Kraken Tentacle (preferred + weight boost)
  • Instant Catcher (backup for guaranteed catch)

Scylla Attempts:

  • Truffle Worm (preferred)
  • Hangman’s Hook (easier minigame)

Boreal Pines:

  • Frostnova Bait (preferred + cold resist)
  • Fruitcake Flakes (event bonus)

Fischmas Event:

  • Holly Berry
  • Peppermint Worm
  • Cookie Crumble

How to Farm Rare Baits

Truffle Worms

The best method is farming Volcanic Geodes:

  1. Go to Roslit Volcano
  2. Use Reinforced Rod, Magma Rod, or any rod with Invincible enchant
  3. Fish up Volcanic Geodes
  4. Open them for Truffle Worms

I get about 5-10 Truffle Worms per hour this way.

Luminous Larva

Fish up Tropical Bait Crates in the Second Sea. These are rare but each crate can drop multiple Luminous Larva.

Kraken Tentacle

  • Redeem codes (check our Fisch Codes page)
  • Beat the Kraken boss
  • Open Rare Bait Crates (expensive)

Event Baits

Stock up during events. Codes drop event baits frequently. I have 50+ Holly Berries saved from Fischmas codes.

Bait Management Tips

Don’t waste rare baits on common fish. I see players using Truffle Worms at Moosewood. That’s like using premium gas in a bicycle.

Stock up during events. Event codes give free baits. Redeem everything even if you don’t need it now.

Match bait to location. Fish Head for sharks, Squid for deep sea, Truffle Worm for mythicals. Simple.

Keep Instant Catchers for emergencies. When you see a legendary and your hands are shaking, Instant Catcher guarantees the catch.

Buy in bulk. Common baits are cheap. I keep 500+ Shrimp and Fish Head at all times.
