Devil Hunter is the first Roblox Chainsaw Man game that actually works. Three progression paths (Human, Fiend, Hybrid), 15+ devil contracts, ranked PvP, and a combat system that rewards skill over spam. The game just hit public playtest and it's already pulling massive numbers.
I've been grinding since day one of the playtest. After 40+ hours in the first week alone, here's what actually works to stop getting destroyed and start climbing ranks.
Quick Start - First 30 Minutes
When you spawn in, you're Human by default. Don't rush into fights.
- Talk to the recruiter at HQ - This starts your Devil Hunter career
- Grab a basic weapon from the Armory - Katana or Pipe work fine early
- Kill NPCs in the starter area - Build up Yen and learn combat
- Don't spend RC Cells yet - You'll need them for contracts later
- Pick your path - Human (contracts), Fiend (devil form), or Hybrid (both)
- Join a public server - More players means more devil spawns for contracts
The biggest mistake new players make is spreading resources thin. Pick ONE path and commit to it.
The Three Paths Explained
Human Path (Devil Contracts)
Humans make contracts with devils, sacrificing body parts or resources for power. This is the most flexible path with 15+ contracts to mix and match.
Pros:
- Multiple contracts at once
- Can switch builds with Devil Eraser
- Access to all weapon types
Cons:
- Sacrifices hurt (losing an eye affects aim)
- Contracts cost RC Cells and body parts
- Weaker base stats than Fiends
Best for: Players who want variety and don't mind the grind
Fiend Path
Fiends are devils who took over a human corpse. You pick one devil type and commit to it permanently.
Pros:
- Passive regeneration
- Unique Fiend talents
- Strong base stats
Cons:
- Locked to one weapon type forever
- Can't make new contracts after becoming a Fiend
- Requires 3 contracts of the same type to become a Fiend
Best for: Players who know exactly what playstyle they want
Hybrid Path
Hybrids are humans who merged with a devil. This is the current meta for PvP.
Pros:
- Strongest combat abilities
- Best of both worlds
- Dominates ranked PvP
Cons:
- Hardest to obtain
- Requires specific progression
- Limited flexibility
Best for: Competitive players focused on PvP
How to become a Hybrid: Collect 3 contracts of the same devil type, then find the specific Hybrid quest. Requirements vary by Hybrid type.
Progression System
Division Ranks
| Rank | Requirements | What You Get |
|---|---|---|
| Amateur Hunter | Div 6 & 5 Quests | Basic weapons, starter contracts |
| Junior Hunter | Div 4 & 3 Quests | Devil Heart exploration rights |
| First Class Hunter | Div 2 & 1 Quests | Violent Devil, high-tier Fiend skills |
| Senior Hunter | Zombie Raid Completion | Endgame gear, stat overcaps |
Don't rush ranks. Each division has quests that teach you game mechanics. Skipping them means missing important rewards. I tried to skip Div 5 quests and got wrecked in Div 4 because I didn't know the parry timing.
Stat Points
Stats matter but aren't complicated. Each stat shows its effect when you hover over it.
For melee builds: Strength > Endurance > Speed For ranged builds: Precision > Speed > Endurance For tank builds: Endurance > Strength > Speed
Don't spread points evenly. Max your main stat first, then secondary. I wasted my first 20 levels with balanced stats and couldn't kill anything efficiently.
All Devil Contracts
Contracts are how Humans gain power. Each requires a sacrifice and gives unique abilities.
Free Roam Contracts (Easy to Get)
These devils wander the map. Find them and make a deal.
| Contract | Rarity | Sacrifice | Ability |
|---|---|---|---|
| Bat Devil | Common | Minor | Wings for flight, AOE attack |
| Sea Cucumber | Common | Minor | Defensive buffs |
| Leech Devil | Common | Minor | Life drain |
| Tomato Devil | Rare | Minor | Healing abilities |
| Mantis Devil | Uncommon | Minor | Fast slashing attacks |
Bat Devil is the best starter. No permanent body part loss, gives you flight for map exploration, and the AOE attack is solid for farming.
Raid Boss Contracts (10% Drop Rate)
Beat raid bosses with a team. Pray to RNG.
| Contract | Rarity | Sacrifice | Ability |
|---|---|---|---|
| Ghost Devil | Rare | Major | Grab/slam combo, distance control |
| Zombie Devil | Common | Minor | Undead summons |
Ghost Devil is S-tier for PvP. The grab combo is unmatched for controlling fights. Worth the grind.
Shrine Ritual Contracts
These require specific items and locations. No shortcuts.
| Contract | Rarity | How to Get |
|---|---|---|
| Fox Devil | Rare | Pay gatekeeper, offer body parts and flesh |
| Snake Devil | Rare | Specific shrine ritual |
| Frog Devil | Uncommon | Cheaper Fox alternative |
| Fish Devil | Uncommon | Feed Worm Carcass |
| Stone Devil | Rare | Shrine offering |
| Mold Devil | Rare | Specific item sacrifice |
Fox Devil has one-shot combo potential with Katana. Massive hitbox, instant startup. Pure offense.
Floor Zero Contracts (Endgame)
Located at Public Safety HQ. Requires high rank.
| Contract | Rarity | Why It's Good |
|---|---|---|
| Future Devil | Special | Auto-dodge passive, i-frame counter |
| Curse Devil | Legendary | Hardest to get, strongest abilities |
Future Devil is broken for PvP. The auto-dodge and invincibility frames during Future Sight make you nearly untouchable in duels.
Contract Tier List
| Tier | Contract | Why |
|---|---|---|
| S+ | Violent Devil | Unparryable grab bypasses all defenses |
| S | Ghost Devil | Grab/slam combo dominates PvP |
| S | Future Devil | Auto-dodge and i-frames are broken |
| A | Fox Devil | One-shot combo potential, massive hitbox |
| A | Snake Devil | Swallow enemies, unique utility |
| A | Blood Devil | Best sustain for PvE farming |
| B | Frog Devil | Budget Fox, easy to get |
| B | Bat Devil | Best starter, flight + AOE |
The gap between S+ and everything else is massive. Violent Devil's unparryable grab bypasses damage reduction and parries. If you want to compete with Hybrids as a Human, you need it.
Hybrid Tier List
Hybrids dominate the current meta. Here's what's worth grinding for.
| Tier | Hybrid | Why |
|---|---|---|
| S | Bomb | Versatile, massive AOE, Bomb Kick utility |
| S | Chainsaw | High damage, good mobility |
| S | Flamethrower | Unblockable burn damage, counters parry meta |
| A | Katana Man | High skill ceiling, rewarding when you hit |
| A | Gun Devil | Ranged pressure, zone control |
| B | Whip | Decent range, outclassed by S-tiers |
| C | Shield | Defensive, doesn't fit current meta |
Bomb Hybrid is the best overall. Versatility, AOE damage, and the Bomb Kick utility make it work in every situation.
Flamethrower counters the parry meta. Everyone knows how to press G to parry. Flamethrower doesn't care. Burn damage goes through blocks.
Fiend Tier List
If you're going Fiend, there's only one real choice.
| Tier | Fiend | Why |
|---|---|---|
| S | Angel Fiend | Flight, long-range damage, best mobility |
| A | Power Fiend | Scales with Fear system, strong late |
| A | Violence Fiend | Good damage, solid all-around |
| B | Others | Outclassed, not worth the commitment |
Angel Fiend is the only S-tier. Flight plus long-range damage gives you advantages no other Fiend can match. Reroll until you get it.
To reroll Fiend type: Use loot boxes from sabotage missions or spend ~400k Cash at the Black Market. Make sure you're in Fiend form before rerolling.
Weapons Guide
Your weapon choice should match your contract. I've tested most combinations and some work way better than others.
Starter Weapons (Armory)
| Weapon | Cost | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| Katana | Cheap | Melee DPS, pairs well with Fox Devil |
| Pipe | Cheap | Learning combat |
| Axe | Medium | Slower, higher damage |
Advanced Weapons
| Weapon | How to Get | Best With |
|---|---|---|
| Chainsaw | Hybrid change | Chainsaw Hybrid |
| Nail Bat | Crafting | Blood Devil builds |
| Spear | Armory upgrade | Range advantage |
Weapon combos matter. Fox Devil + Katana is a classic combo. Ghost Devil + any weapon with grab follow-ups. Match your contract to your weapon.
Combat Tips
The Parry Meta (And How to Beat It)
Everyone parries. Press G at the right time to block attacks and create openings.
How to counter parry spammers:
- Use unparryable moves (Violent Devil grab, Flamethrower burn)
- Mix up timing with delayed attacks
- Grab attacks bypass parry entirely
- Percentage-based damage ignores defense stacking
I-Frame Abuse
Invincibility frames during certain moves make you untouchable. Future Devil's Future Sight is the best example. You can attack while being immune to damage.
Best i-frame moves:
- Future Sight (Future Devil)
- Bomb Kick (Bomb Hybrid)
- Certain Chainsaw attacks
Spacing
Distance control wins fights. Ghost Devil's grab/slam lets you control exactly where the fight happens. Don't just rush in.
Farming Guide
Yen Farming
- Kill NPCs in starter area (slow but safe)
- Complete division quests (good rewards)
- Sabotage missions (risky but profitable)
- Zombie Raids (best Yen per hour at high level)
RC Cell Farming
- Devil kills drop RC Cells
- Higher tier devils = more cells
- Save cells for important contracts
- Don't waste on low-tier contracts
Body Part Management
Some contracts require permanent sacrifices. Plan ahead.
Safe sacrifices: Hair, skin, fingernails Risky sacrifices: Eyes (affects aim), arms (changes combat)
You can restore body parts with Devil Eraser from the Black Market, but it's expensive.
Common Mistakes
Spreading resources thin. Pick one path and commit. A maxed Human with good contracts beats a half-built Hybrid every time.
Rushing to Fiend. Becoming a Fiend is permanent. Make sure you want that specific playstyle forever before committing. I've seen players regret it within hours.
Ignoring weapon combos. Your contract and weapon should complement each other. Fox + Katana. Ghost + grab follow-ups. Don't mix randomly.
Wasting RC Cells on bad contracts. Bat Devil is free and good. Don't spend cells on Sea Cucumber when you could save for Ghost or Future.
Not learning to parry. Yes, the meta is about bypassing parry. But you still need to know how to do it. Learn the timing.
Codes
No codes exist yet. The game just released and the code redemption system is coming in update 0.5. I'll update this page when codes drop.

FAQ
Human, Fiend, or Hybrid - which should I pick?
Start Human. Learn the game, try different contracts, figure out your playstyle. Then decide if you want to commit to Fiend or grind for Hybrid.
How do I become a Hybrid?
Collect 3 contracts of the same devil type, then find the specific Hybrid change quest. Requirements vary by Hybrid type. It took me about 15 hours to get my first Hybrid.
Can I reset my contracts?
Yes. Buy Devil Eraser from the Black Market (behind the painting in the main shop). It's expensive but restores sacrificed body parts and removes contracts.
What's the fastest way to rank up?
Complete division quests in order. Don't skip them. Each quest teaches mechanics and gives good rewards.
Is this game pay-to-win?
Not really. You can buy some cosmetics and convenience items, but the best gear comes from gameplay. Skill matters more than spending.
