Dandy's World Guide (January 2026)

I got absolutely destroyed my first 20 runs. Didn’t understand why Twisteds kept finding me, didn’t know Trinkets existed, picked the worst Toons. Classic beginner mistakes.

After 100+ hours in Dandy’s World, I finally get it. The game looks like a cute cartoon horror experience, but there’s serious depth here. Toon synergies, Trinket optimization, Twisted mechanics, team coordination. This Dandy’s World guide covers everything I wish someone told me when I started.

Grab the free Ichor from codes first. You’ll need it for Toon licenses.

What is Dandy’s World

You and up to 7 other players pick Toons (playable characters) and descend through floors of Gardenview Center. Each floor has machines you need to extract. Extract enough machines, elevator opens, next floor.

The catch? Twisteds patrol each floor. They’re corrupted versions of the Toons. Get spotted, they chase. Get caught, you lose health. Some Twisteds kill you instantly.

Simple concept. Brutal execution.

Your First Run

When you spawn in the lobby, you’ll see Dandy’s Shop and the elevator. Here’s what to do:

Pick a starter Toon. Boxten or Poppy are free. Both are fine for learning. Don’t stress about optimal picks yet.

Equip Trinkets. You can equip two. Check what you have unlocked. Any Trinkets are better than none.

Enter the elevator. Wait for other players or go solo. Solo is harder but possible.

Extract machines. Find glowing machines on each floor. Hold interact to extract. Don’t get caught.

Survive. Use hiding spots, break line of sight, manage your stamina.

Understanding Toons

Toons have six stats that matter:

StatWhat It Does
HealthHearts. Lose them all, you’re out
Skill CheckExtraction minigame difficulty
Movement SpeedWalk and sprint speed
StaminaHow long you can sprint
StealthHow easily Twisteds detect you
Extraction SpeedHow fast you complete machines

Every Toon also has a unique ability. Some heal teammates, some buff speed, some create distractions. Abilities define playstyles.

Best Starter Toons

Boxten (free) gets 6% extraction speed buff per alive teammate. Full team means 48% faster extractions. Solid for learning.

Poppy (free/250 Ichor) gets 50% speed buff for 3 seconds when hit. Helps you escape mistakes.

Cosmo (1,000 Ichor) can heal teammates by giving one heart. Great for team play.

Finn (500 Ichor) gets 33% movement speed after completing machines. Good for repositioning.

Once you have more Ichor, check the Dandy’s World Toons Tier List for optimal picks.

Understanding Twisteds

Twisteds are the enemies. Each one has:

  • Speed - Chase and patrol speed
  • Vision Range - How far they see
  • Hearing Range - How far they hear
  • Attention Span - How long they search after losing you

Five rarity tiers exist: Common, Uncommon, Rare, Main Character (Floor 5+), and Lethal (instant kill).

Detection Basics

Vision is line of sight. Walls block it. Objects block it. Break line of sight and hide.

Hearing is sound. Running is loud. Failed skill checks are loud. Completed machines are loud. Crouch-walk when Twisteds are nearby.

Common Mistakes

Running everywhere. Sound attracts Twisteds. Walk when they’re on your floor.

Peeking too early. Each Twisted has an attention span. Wait it out before leaving your hiding spot.

Ignoring audio cues. Twisteds make sounds. Learn them. You’ll know where they are without seeing them.

For detailed counter strategies, check the Dandy’s World All Twisteds Guide.

Trinkets

Trinkets are equippable items that buff your Toon. You can equip two before each floor.

How to Get Trinkets

Research Twisteds. Use the Research Camera to photograph them. 100% research unlocks their Trinket.

Dandy’s Shop. Some Trinkets are purchasable with Ichor.

Mastery Quests. Complete Toon-specific challenges.

Floor Progression

Floors 1-4: Common and Uncommon Twisteds only. Learn the basics here.

Floor 5+: Main Character Twisteds spawn. These have floor-wide abilities. Pebble has 125 vision range. Vee has global hearing. The difficulty spikes hard.

Floor 10+: Multiple Main Characters possible. Team coordination becomes critical.

Floor 15+: More Rare Twisteds. Debuffs and ranged attacks everywhere.

Floor 20+: Chaos. Only coordinated teams survive consistently.

Survival Strategies

Sound Management

Crouch-walk near Twisteds. Always. Running alerts them from across the floor.

Clear the area before completing machines. The completion sound attracts nearby Twisteds.

Practice skill checks. Failed checks make noise and slow your extraction.

Line of Sight

Always know your nearest hiding spot. Before you start extracting, identify where you’ll run if spotted.

Use corners to peek. Quick looks around corners let you track Twisteds without full exposure.

Break line of sight immediately when spotted. Don’t try to outrun most Twisteds. Hide instead.

Team Coordination

Assign roles. Someone extracts, someone watches for Twisteds, someone heals.

Communicate positions. Call out Twisted locations. Warn teammates before completing machines.

Don’t cluster. Spread out so one Twisted can’t catch everyone.

Dandy’s Shop

Between floors, you can buy items from Dandy’s Shop. Currency is Tapes (earned during runs).

Priority buys:

  • Health restoration (if damaged)
  • Stamina items (for late floors)
  • Flashlight upgrades (for blackouts)

Skip:

  • Cosmetics (waste of Tapes early on)
  • Situational items you don’t need

Important: If you skip Dandy’s Shop 3 times, Twisted Dandy spawns. She’s Lethal (instant kill) with global hearing. Buy something every time to prevent this.

Common Beginner Mistakes

Not using Trinkets. Equip them before every floor. Any buff helps.

Ignoring Toon abilities. Your ability exists. Use it. Cosmo can heal. Sprout can heal. Flutter can dash. Learn your kit.

Solo on high floors. Floor 5+ with Main Characters is brutal solo. Team up.

Spending Ichor on skins. Get Toons and Trinkets first. Skins are cosmetic.

Not researching Twisteds. Photographing them unlocks Trinkets. Do it.
