Anime Guardians Beginner's Guide

Anime Guardians drops you into the game with zero explanation. No tutorial, confusing menus, and a gacha system that looks impossible. I wasted my first 20k Gems on terrible summons because I didn’t know what I was doing.

This guide covers everything I wish I knew when I started.

First 10 Minutes

Do these things immediately:

1. Claim Your Free Exodia Unit

Check your mailbox (envelope icon). There’s a free Exodia unit waiting. This thing carries early game hard. Equip it before doing anything else.

2. Clear 2-3 Story Stages

You need Level 5 to redeem codes. Clear a few stages on Normal difficulty. Exodia handles everything.

3. Redeem All Codes

Once you hit Level 5, go to our Anime Guardians Codes page and redeem everything. You’ll get:

  • Thousands of Trait Rerolls
  • Tens of thousands of Gems
  • Lucky Potions
  • Various currencies

This takes 5 minutes and sets you up for hours of progression.

4. DON’T Summon Yet

I know you want to pull. Resist. Save your Gems until you understand the banner system. I burned 20k on the standard banner and got nothing useful.

Understanding the Basics

Unit Rarities

From worst to best:

  • Rare - Trash, fodder only
  • Epic - Still trash
  • Legendary - Usable early, replace later
  • Mythic - Good, worth investing
  • Secret - Great, hard to get
  • Exclusive - Event units, varies
  • Limited - Time-limited, often broken
  • Heavenly - Top tier
  • Guardian - Best in game, 0.0045% rates

Don’t chase Guardian units as a beginner. Focus on Mythic and Secret.

Traits

Traits are stat bonuses on units. A unit without traits is half as strong as one with good traits.

Best traits:

  • Damage++ (always good)
  • Range+ (quality of life)
  • Attack Speed+ (more DPS)

Use Trait Rerolls from codes to get good traits on your main units.

Positioning

Where you place units matters:

  • Intersections - Put AoE units here to hit multiple paths
  • Boss lanes - Single-target DPS goes here
  • Back lines - Support units stay safe here

Bad positioning is why most beginners fail stages they should clear.

First Week Goals

Day 1-2: Story Mode Normal

Clear all Story Mode acts on Normal difficulty. Exodia carries most of it.

Goals:

  • Reach Level 30
  • Complete all acts
  • Save every Gem

Day 3-4: Chainsaw Man Event

Even though this event is old, it’s still active. The units are free and strong.

Farm for:

  • Denji (S tier, farmable)
  • Power (A tier, farmable)
  • CSM Coins for shop

These units don’t require gacha luck. You grind and buy them directly.

Day 5-7: First Summons

Now you can summon. But be smart.

Priority:

  1. Limited banners (Re:Zero right now)
  2. Rate-up banners
  3. Standard banner (only if desperate)

Target units:

  • Sung Jin Woo (any version)
  • Gojo (Infinity)
  • Any Mythic with AoE

Use Lucky Potions before pulling on limited banners.

What to Spend Resources On

Gems

  • Limited banners (best value)
  • Rate-up banners (good value)
  • Standard banner (bad value, avoid)

Trait Rerolls

  • Your main DPS first
  • Then your secondary DPS
  • Then supports

Coins

  • Evolution materials
  • Shop items
  • Unit upgrades

Lucky Potions

  • Save for limited banners only
  • Pop right before pulling
  • Don’t waste on standard banner

Common Beginner Mistakes

Summoning on Standard Banner

The rates are terrible. Wait for rate-ups or limited banners. I wasted 20k Gems learning this.

Ignoring Traits

A Mythic with Damage++ beats a Secret with no traits. Use your rerolls.

Spreading Resources

Focus on 6 units max. Perfect those before touching others. I tried building 15 units and all of them were mid.

Skipping Chainsaw Man Event

Denji is free and S tier. Power is free and A tier. No excuse to skip.

Bad Positioning

AoE at intersections. Single-target on boss lanes. Supports in back. Learn this early.

Rushing Nightmare Difficulty

Normal gives the same completion rewards. Clear Normal first, come back for Nightmare with better units.

Team Building Basics

Starter Team (Week 1)

  • Exodia (free, carries early)
  • Denji (farm from CSM event)
  • Power (farm from CSM event)
  • Any Mythic you pull

This team clears Story Mode Normal and most of Hard.

Mid-Game Team (Week 2-4)

  • Sung Jin Woo (if you pulled him)
  • Gojo (if you pulled him)
  • Denji (still good)
  • Best Mythic/Secret you have

This team pushes into Nightmare and early Infinite Mode.

Endgame Team (Month 1+)

  • Sung (Shadow Monarch) - evolved
  • Saitama or Reinhard (if lucky)
  • Gojo (Infinity)
  • Best support unit

This team clears everything and pushes Infinite Mode leaderboards.

Quick Tips

Check codes daily. New codes drop with updates. Our codes page stays updated.

Join the Discord. Codes drop there first. Community helps with team building.

Don’t buy Gems with Robux yet. Farm first. See if you like the game.

Infinite Mode is your Gem source. 100 Gems per wave after Wave 50. Farm it.

Events are time-limited. Farm event shops before they end. Materials don’t come back for months.

What’s Next?

Once you’re past the beginner phase:

Frequently Asked Questions

I just started, what do I do first?

Claim free Exodia from mailbox, clear 2-3 stages to hit Level 5, redeem all codes from our codes page. Takes 15 minutes and sets you up for hours.

How do I get good units without spending money?

Farm the Chainsaw Man event for free Denji and Power. Use codes for Gems and pull on limited banners only. Infinite Mode gives 100 Gems per wave after Wave 50. F2P is slower but viable.

Why do my units feel weak?

Probably no traits. A unit without traits is half as strong. Use Trait Rerolls from codes to get Damage++ on your main DPS. Also check positioning. Bad placement kills runs.

Should I upgrade all my units?

No. Focus on 6 units max. Spreading resources makes everyone mid. Pick your best 6 and max those before touching others.

What’s the point of the Chainsaw Man event if it’s old?

Free S-tier units. Denji and Power don’t require gacha luck. You grind the event and buy them directly. They’re still meta, especially Denji for shield breaking.

How do I know if I’m ready for Nightmare difficulty?

Can you clear Hard without losing lives? Do you have at least one Mythic with good traits? If yes, try Nightmare. If you fail, go back and farm more.
